Which features would you lose by using it manually without an app/smartphone?
I bought one. You need the smartphone app to control the unit, it has almost no manual controls on it. It connects to your local wifi/bluetooth. You don’t need to pay for the subscription though, that just gets you access to their recipe database.

When I went to check out, I was offered $15 back if I created a OnePay account, attached a CC, and used it to pay for the order.
This is an incredible value at this price point. At 800watts would seem it’s underpowered but I brought a full stockpot of water up to 131° in 20 minutes. Yes, it does cost extra for the app, which adds the recipes and Wi-Fi comnnectivity but it connects just fine with Bluetooth for free. You can look up the recipies on the web.The price here is less than half of its nearest competitor. Can’t pass this up. Get it while it lasts.
amazing – I bought on jan. 7 for $38 but now it’s available for $30, and the old one is eligible for free return until April 11. I talked to customer service rep and he offered me a $10 promo for the hassle, which I applied to a new order, so the total is $21 with tax. I’ll return the old one as soon as I get the new one.
