Groupon NYC: 2 Person Dinner For $42.40, 4 Person Dinner For $84.80 At Talia’s Steakhouse

Even though i like talias, have in mind the following:
Price doesn’t include tax or tip. (Both based on price before discount)
Also, most people i know don’t love the place. The food is not quality like the primes etc.

@review:
It may not be Prime or Reserve Cut, but then again we’re talking about $21 and not $120 per person for dinner.

Last year I called ahead and they let me use 2x 4 people coupons

Don’t entrees include sides already?? If i would want to switch to a dessert or something for equal value, you think they would let??

@review: That’s true, they don’t include tax or tip, but I don’t think they’re both based on price before discount. Maybe the tip, but I don’t think the tax is allowed to be based on the regular price. Just what was actually charged. The tip however, should be based on what the food would normally cost since the waiter/waitress is providing the same service. The problem that I had with Talia’s, was that they tried to claim a tip from me based on the MAXIMUM value I could have obtained from the voucher, which could have only been so had I ordered the most expensive options. That isn’t fair. They should ask for a tip based on the value of the food that you actually do order.

The first time I went there with my wife 2 years ago, the food was not good but there was live music (Motzei Shabbos). Last year when we went there there was no music but the food was great, my teens were very impressed. I just bought a Groupon now, it worked fine.

Talia’s rating is simply off the lack in/of quality of the food

Also, the “values” they post on groupon are a misleading. The entrees based on the menu should already include sides but when you use the groupon, you get to choose a side that’s NOT in addition to the sides stated part of the entree. Basically, when they say “entree” in the groupon, it does not include the sides in the description. You pick the sides separately.
This also answers @b’s questions.

I would recommend talias definitley and for 21 bucks for appetizer and main+fries in manhattan? I’m game!

Did anyone else have that experience with the sides at Talia’s? Basically the sides we chose REPLACED the sides stated in the description.

Over the years I have been to Talia’s several times. I went initially because the food was pretty good. Over time the quality of their food has gone down considerably. I still kept going back because of their very good deals/prices. Last year I bought their Burger groupon and now I am done with them. The deal consisted of 2 chip and dip appetizers, 4 burgers with sides and a bottle of wine (or 4 glasses of wine). This is my horror story and I do not plan to go back there unless they contact me and make it up. They seated me ASAP and it went downhill from that point forward. Once we were all seated, I told the waitress right away that we had the coupon and that our appetizers were pre-set. She insisted on us perusing the menu “just in case” and then didn’t come back for 40 minutes. We ordered the chip and dips and burgers (choice of 4 types). 30 minutes later, she brings us 1 chip and dip. I ask her where is the other, and she says which other (we had ordered 2) as the groupon only comes with one. I had to pull up the original webpage showing two and she says sorry and she’ll get another. 25 minutes later she comes back with the other one and also tells us that our lamb burgers are not available. This is 55 minutes after we ordered it and this is the first we were hearing about it. Not to mention we really wanted the lamb burger (the Turkey Burger is awful). The waitress did not offer any solutions and said pick another burger.
Eventually, we got beef burgers that came out in 5 minute intervals, so the first person’s food was cold by the time the last burger came out, the sides were not what we ordered and she wouldn’t let us have wine until I had to pull up the weblisting again. The whole ordeal took several hours, the food was cold and bad and service terrible. At the endthe waitress prints up our bill with a tip based upon the should be price despite all that I wrote above. My lesson in this case was that the “deal” was just not worth the experience.

Seriously Dan? The reviews on this place are HORRIBLE to put it MILD.

Lost a lot of respect for you for the fact that you delete people’s comments when they challenge what an AWFUL deal this is. Fact is the reviews on this place are ABSOLUTELY terrible and there is no need to delete my comment because I state as much.

Comments have to be manually approved and published for them to show up. It’s not done every single minute.

Plenty of people love this place and plenty don’t. Debate all you want, but have a little bit of patience, I’m not a robot!

When you make a comment it goes into a moderation queue. WordPress decides if it looks like SPAM (which probably won’t be seen at all) or if it looks OK for approval (which will be published the next time I check the queue).
If you return to the page before the queue has been published then you won’t see the comment.

I am a pretty finicky eater and I have been to talias several times with me and wife or whole family and the food is good and definitely a good value….expect total to be

Groupon for four plus about 50 in tip or groupon for 2 plus 25 in tip

Now do the math and decide but the food I believe to be quite good

The deal for 2 is sold out. 🙁
