The Herzog Winery is located in Oxnard, CA which is about an hour west of LA without traffic or about 17 hours with traffic š
Tierra Sur, located in the Herzog Winery, is the finest kosher restaurant in North America.Ā I reviewed the restaurant as part of these trip notes. The flavors they use are mouth-watering and unique. Their the menu is constantly changing to keep things fresh.
Even just lunch and dinner have completely different options that make it worth eating there twice while skipping off to the nearby massive Camarillo outlet mall or to the Pacific Ocean while building up another appetite.
Or stop off for lunch at the excellent Pizza Nosh in Agoura Hills on your way from LA into the valley before hitting up Tierra Sur for dinner.Ā Or take the PCH instead of the 101 and stop off at Fish Grill for lunch in Mailbu and be sure to check out the free Getty Villa there as well. Or hit up some of the ocean activities there.
With this groupon you pay $40 for a $50 gift certificate to Tierra Sur. You’ll also get free wine tasting for two people with eight glasses of wine per person and two free souvenir wine glasses. No, I won’t be covering your DUI bill if you drive right after imbibing all of that goodness.

Now you’re telling me? I was there 3 days ago!
DUI is generally used for drugs. I think you meant to say DWI.

Well, how was?
@Perfectionist:
Not where I come from

@Dan:
Dan, do you know Who provides the Kashrut for this restaurant?
18% Service fee kills it. The $10 discount is effectively a %20 discount. Then they add 18%. So your only saving like 2 bucks.
@Kidooo:
OU
@Josh:
A. Do you usually not tip when you eat out???
B. The savings is the free 8 glass wine tasting, not just the $10.
Dan – you always refer to Tierra Sur as the best Kosher restaurant in North America. What would you say is the best Kosher restaurant in the world?
Arguably Asian (pronounced Ah-See-Yahn) n Buenos Aires.
Though both places are constantly changing their menu which means that your experience will definitely be YMMV.
@Dan:
From Asian’s menu:
“Beef Bone Rib Steak 1.5 kg (For 2)
BBQ sauce + potatoes sauted with
cherry tomatoes, spring onion and leaks +
green salad $369”
……Dan, is the USD…..?
@LA2NYC:
Of course not.
It’s ARS. You can buy them on the street for 9.5 per 1 USD.
It’s “Terra Sur,” no “i”
@Darren:
Erm, no.
I did this last time around. If you are going to look for a bargained meal, the 18% flounders it. If you are going to have a good time knowing money will be spent, then this groupon is great. We got the Bison for 2 for $80 last time, so we paid $30 plus full tax and tip.
NOTE – You must make reservations. We called in on a Tuesday for that upcoming Sunday, and we barely got it. ALSO, come do the wine tasting BEFORE your reservation dinner time (suggested 30-45 minutes before dinner). If you come and do your wine tasting at your reservation time, you run the risk of losing your table.
We’re going with a party of 5. Will they take the group on since it will only cover two?
