Aventura Pita still sells certificates but is apparently no longer kosher hasgocha.
Habayit and Orange Delite are still selling certificates, but people have reported that they are not honoring them.

Aventura Pita in Miami has lost its hechsher!!!
Mendy’s Coney Island has closed.
Went to Orange Delight with some friends and when it came time to pay they said they are sorry but they never agreed to be a part of restaurant.com so they are accepting the coupon. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU ARE EXPECTING THE DISCOUNT!!!!!!!
Rabbi Mordechai Fried, Rabbinic Administrator of
The Vaad HaKashrus Of Miami-Dade County (KM)
has asked us to inform you of the following:
Due to Kashrus Violations, effective January 7, 2011,
“Aventura Pita” located at 18129 Biscayne Blvd.,
is no longer under Kosher Miami supervision.
For a complete list of certified establishments,
please visit KM’s website at http://www.koshermiami.org
Why none in the Lakewood, NJ area?
Orange Delight has a huge sign on the door saying that they are no longer accepting the coupon!
We have had problems with the restaurant.com coupons at kosher restaurants in LA. Make sure to call the restaurant first before buying the coupons. We also planned an evening at Orange Delite. Luckily we called first. Now they have a sign on the door saying they are not part of the promotion. Orange Delite is a great restaurant owned by the nicest people. They would never do something to trick their customers.
I have I’ve “raged against the machine” that is restaurant.com a couple times on here…be very careful when purchasing these. Always call and ask. Their selection has been cut heavily with most people turning to Groupon, Living Social, and other localized discount coupons.
There is almost ZERO binding agreement between a restaurant and the website and usually they’re listed as the result of a one month “free trial” they offer local restaurants.
I know it’s only a few bucks for the certificate, but in my profession I’ve talked to a handful of people who have gone to restaurants racked up a good amount of money thinking they’re getting the discount only to be told they no longer take them or only accept certificates issued in a certain month.
On the flipside, I’ve dealt with restaurants that have sought cease and desist orders because customers get very upset and hold it against the establishment for not accepting the website’s deal. Like I said, many have told me the sales people call or come by offering a one month trial…and it ends up on their site for many more months
Just wanted to say that I have used restaurant.com coupons probably 50 times in the past 2 years in maybe 5 different cities and never had a single issue. I almost always use them when I travel (since I have to eat out and cant cook). Maybe I have just been lucky, but this is my experience.
Yes it is true that Aventura Pita is not certified under Kosher Miami or any other hechsher. I too, confirmed this with the Vaad. Just don’t want anyone to make the same mistake that we made. On the other hand, used the $25 coupon I bought for $3 at Emunah Cafe and it was a major metziah!
I bought certificates for HaBayit & for Orange Delite for use during my visit to LA. The owner at Habayit (shown the certificate before we ordered) said he had no agreement with Restaurant.com and won’t honor the certificate. (After the meal, realizing that our bill was $150 and that 18% gratuity -$25 got him an extra $2, he “accepted” the certificate – without telling me – and graciously “accepted” my cash tip – without comment.)
Because of this experience, I called Orange Delite before going there. The owner told me that he had no agreement with Restaurant.com, and wouldn’t honor the certificate, but would repay the cost of the certificate. (A true mentsch.) I declined.
I called Restaurant.com. They were extremely courteous, said they’d investigate but couldn’t even imagine including places with which they didn’t have WRITTEN & SIGNED agreements. They returned my payments.
I don’t know what to make of all this, but be aware!
Nothing for chicago??!!
What is the new code for Feb?
Madras Mahal in NYC is listed here but description says it’s open on Shabbos. Does it have any supervision? Would anyone suggest it or know of other kosher Indian restaurant in Manhattan?
FYI: Orange delight in LA doesn’t accept these so don’t bother getting any.
Isn’t there any new offer code for Feb.? Never tried this before and would very much like to.
