Depends on the station. I know of two Shell stations with the same ownership where one charges the cash price with Shell gift cards and one charges the credit price.

Sure, you can purchase this gift card and purchase Shell gas for about $0.25 a gallon more than neighboring stations. Real win!
On Rt 17 in Mahwah, the Shell gas station on the hill is the same price as everyone else, which is generally within 2¢ of the cheapest station.
Plus, 25¢ more is still less than 10% more than the current ~$3 per gallon, so…

Depends on the station. Shell station in the Five Towns is much more expensive than nearby stations, but Shell station in Oceanside is quite cheap, currently less than $3, probably due to its proximity to a Costco gas station. Plus Shell Fuel Rewards has been giving an extra 20 cents off one day a month. I paid $1.129 on 12/20 by combining this with 10 cents from T-Mobile and $1.50 from purchases of gift cards at Stop and Shop. I buy Shell gift cards with at least a 10% discount, so my out-of-pocket cost was less than $1.02.

For any lakewooders here, if you take county line / lanes Mill out to the garden State parkway ( exit 91) The shell on the corner over there is usually very well priced.
