While some imported Skittles have been kosher for some time, domestically produced Skittles have not been kosher until now.

An OU spokesman tells DansDeals that,

Skittles Littles Original are kosher even without OU on packaging. This applies to both bags and tubes. No special code or date needed. There will soon be an OU on them but they are acceptable already as of now.
Only applies to:
1) Skittles Littles Original
2) When it’s a Product of the USA.

You can order them now from your local Target, Walmart, or other store:

There are also 3rd party sellers on Amazon with overpriced 2 packs, 3 packs, and Mega Tubes of Skittles Littles.

Again, the Skittles Littles are confirmed to be OU kosher pareve for US retail products, even without an OU symbol.

JJ was flying back from the Ritz-Carlton Reserve Zadun Los Cabos, where he’s been sharing their incredible looking in-house gourmet kosher program for the past week on Instagram, and found these in Austin’s airport yesterday while waiting out a lengthy delay on AA:

He notes that they have a stronger flavor than the imported kosher Skittles.

Have you tried out Skittles Littles yet?

Wondering things

How can we be sure they are kosher without a hechsher?

Moshe

I ordered the bag of skittles littles from target in NJ two days ago and it did not have certification

Myi

Where did you hear about it being kosher that you ordered them?

Wondering things

Did the contact at ou say they were going to put on the package eventually though?

Are the regular skittles okay now to or is it just the little?

Essen est zich

Bought at family dollar for $3. In my opinion the imported ones taste better.

Checkitout

Are they OU pareve, or OU dairy?

Ash

When Produced after what date are they Kosher certified by OU? Amazon sellers could be selling “older” bags of skittles near expiry… no?

Yaakov

Can you ask ou to update their website? On the website it says symbol required

Ym

Where can we find the information from the OU? There is no mention on their website

Skittles Wild Berry Chewy Candy, Sharing Size – 15.6 oz Bag is $4.12 (AND available for shipping, unlike other walmart skittle items)

Ted

it’s just bioengineered sugar, corn syrup, hydrogenated palm kernel oil and red 40 lake, yellow 5 lake,
Blue 2 lake, yellow 6 lake, blue 1 lake, yellow 6, red 50, yellow 5, blue 1, titanium dioxide…

of course it’s kosher!

Health Fan

Yay ! more money for my doctor and pharmacy !

Ash

also grape juice. that’s a kashrus hot spot

Myi

This is my usual answer when consumers ask about grape puree. We are not permitted to tell which company produces the grape puree but it comes from a kosher facility. It is mevushal. There is no need for a mashgiach temidi for the final facility. The mashgiach is yotze venichnas to make sure that only kosher approved grape puree is used.

But I asked the Rabbinic Coordinator’s answer to your query…..

OK Kosher Certification’s certified wine and grape juice are mevushal at 190F or above. We are makpid on hamshacha even before the grapes are pressed. Keep in mind that the OK generally accepts grape juice and wine from other hechsherim that may have slightly different standards and are used in OK products. For confidentiality reasons, we cannot disclose who the suppliers/ certifiers of the ingredients for a particular product are. You are asking about grape puree which is less of an issue since during the pureeing process there is no hamshacha – the liquids are not separated from the solids.

Argo

How do you know where it’s produced? Is it only produced in the US?

Yeshivish politician

Great news for frum families paying 8$ a bag for this !
Dan id suggest stating CLEARLY at top of article to READ IN FULL bc clearly people reading this are ADHD and will make non kosher conclusions. Not ur fault obviously but clarifying early on can avoid. Thanks

moshe

are these any better then kosher M&M?

Yossi

Totally different type of thing. M&Ms are chocolate, Skittles are just candy.

victor

so does kosher allow titanium dioxide, red 40 and being a bioengineered food? I was hoping they had changed the product for the US but Europe does not have any of those items.

Adle E

Great news! Thanks

Adle E

Hurray for Skittles!

Zoobie

Any word on the sour ones??

Jack

In Europe they are on the list. If you check the OU website they do not have these listed.

JES

Picked them up today at Walmart

Mark

It’s quite remarkable to see how many people take the time to type a comment, but can’t be bothered to read the whole post

Moe

I only read the comments 🙂

MasterCard

Many are simply ai comments. No so remarkable.

Sam

Like this one?

AG

Any idea/rumor if other US-produced Skittles (not only the “Littles”) will be kosher certified in the future?
