Not everyone needs 1080p. Some people prefer laptops without it as it decreases text size.

I actually just bought a laptop from sony that has the latest resolution top notch resolution 1080p HD, and I am sending it back because the font is too small for any person to work with, and if you change the text size, you run into other problems. So I am actually giving back my high resolution laptop to buy a lower resolution one.
