Upgrade the screen to 1920×1080 res (and if you want also touch), it’s a must!
Certainly a good idea, though I wouldn’t call it a must if someone is on a budget.
This is a great laptop with or without an FHD screen for this price!
I just saying with a res of 1366 x 768 it’s not even comfortable to use word.
That’s not true on a 14″ screen in my experience. On a larger screen that may be true.
Certainly FHD is a better experience though.
I checked it on 15.5″, that was terrible. I think that even on 14″ it’s a must upgrade for few dollars.
That’s biggest upgrade, more important even than upgrading from i5 to i7 in this case.
15.6″ laptops and 14″ laptops are worlds apart. The FHD makes less of a difference with a 14″ or smaller screen.
But yes, if you can swing it, go for the upgrade.
adding my voice to those saying FHD is a must. (I did use a 14″ Dell inspiron 5000 with a 1366×768 and it was fine. but on a cheaper panel, which likely has worse viewing angles and weaker color contrast, the higher resolution helps make it a usable screen). $30 is totally worth it. I mean, the screen is the part of the laptop you use most.
FHD is a great upgrade!
But like you said, HD is also fine and will work for someone on a budget.
your dell xps that you spoke about is touch and your always the careful type. why did you need touch but forgoed on the 4k?
1. 4K computer screens give me a headache. I’ll take FHD any day over 4K.
2. 4K screens are a huge battery drain.
These 2 options are the same price, which should I go with?
256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSDIncluded in price
256 GB Intel® SSD + 16 GB Intel® Optane™ memory
Also is it worth getting the accidental damage warranty for 3 years?
Thanks!
I think the 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD is the way to go, but there’s no big difference either way.
Definitely get it, you can get all of your money back via rebate if you don’t need it!
I think “256 GB Intel® SSD + 16 GB Intel® Optane™ memory” is also nvme m2 form, in that case it’s a better choice
Not sure if it is or isn’t, where do you see that?
How is ti different than this one? https://www.dansdeals.com/shopping-deals/electronics/notebooks/hp-14-core-i5-laptop-256gb-ssd-359-core-i3-279-walmart-black-friday-savings/
Trick question?
That has an older processor, worse graphics, cost more, doesn’t have a backlit keyboard, doesn’t have a warranty rebate, and is sold out.
No, i purchase the one you posted on Friday and now wondering if it makes sense to buy this one and return the one from Walmart
Absolutely. That was a good deal, this is a hot deal!
Done! purchased with some upgrades so a bit more expensive but will be better than the one from Walmart. Thanks
Good move!
Catch 22: You’ll need 16GB of RAM if you want to open more than a few DansDeals tabs 😉
For those wondering, the Wi-Fi 6 upgrade is a must and upgrading the RAM and display (400 nits is better, 250 nits HD non-touch is okay) will make it a very solid machine. Processor should be good enough.
What’s the best combo?
What do you want to spend? Are you trying to get to $250 in upgrades for the coupon?
FHD touch is a great upgrade. 16GB RAM is a great upgrade. That’s $140.
512GB SSD, WiFi 6, NVIDIA GeForce MX350 are all nice luxuries.
with no upgrades, is this a good laptop overall in term of specs? reviews aren’t great so just wondering..?
What reviews? I only see 1, which is meaningless. Pavilion is higher up than their base line of laptops.
The specs are insane for this price. High end specs at a rock bottom price.
really it could play Microsoft simulator?
I would upgrade stuff like RAM, SSD size, FHD, and graphics card to take advantage of the coupon, but sure.
Is this a better deal than the previous?

Yes, this is a better laptop and it’s cheaper.
Please excuse my ignorance, but in what way is it better?
The other one has 12gb mem
And 512gb storage, and original price is more..
That one has an older processor, worse graphics, no ability to upgrade to FHD on the cheap or FHD touch at all, no backlit keyboard, and no cheap WiFi 6 upgrade option.
It’s a fine deal, but this is much better. You can upgrade the SSD on this if you need more storage.

Any idea how this compares with the EVOO 15.6″ FHD Ultra Thin Intel® Core™ i7 8GB Memory, 256GB SSD, Windows 10 Home, Black ?
https://fave.co/36t6KQF
A no name brand with an ancient processor that is 5 generations old? Hard pass.
How is it an older processor? This is i5 and that one is i7?
That has a “Intel® Core™ i7-6660U Processor” the number after i7- is the generation processor, so that has a 6th gen, and the laptop in this post has an 11th gen processor.
Oh my … never thought I’m this עם הארץ.
So what does the i7-i5 mean ?
They’re only comparable within the same generation.
So in general wouldn’t i7 mean a later processor mean a later then i5?
Is there a way to add the warranty after I put the order through?
Call and ask?
Ok. I messed up. Now what? I ordered a laptop on Friday but liked this deal better so I purchased assuming that I can cancel but now doesn’t seem that I can cancel! Any suggestions? TY
Return the other one?
Can I? Is there a restocking fee?
Thank you Dan. Got some upgrades and after code was $663
Enjoy!
What office software should I get for this? What is the best deal?
Can I buy two and return one and still get the discount? 🙂
Dan, if I don’t need replacement etc. after a year and file with 90 days I get back full purchase price?
Of the warranty, yes.
Included in the original price, without any extra charges?
The rebate is for any additional warranty purchased.
Thought on this laptop vs XPS 15 9500? Def much cheaper…
How does this compare to “New Inspiron 14″ 5000 2-in-1 Core i5 Touch Laptop” from today’s Dell deals?
https://go.skimresources.com/?id=53840X1297210&xs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fdeals.dell.com%2Fen-us%2Fproductdetail%2F6c53
This has a better graphics card
Thanks Dan. I ordered a few hundred of these.
What are your thoughts on the extended warranty. Is the accidental warranty worth it?
It’s a no brainer. Go for it.
