i need a good computer to do basic photo/video editing, is this what i need or is it excessive?

i only need a computer in a month or so
do you think that this is the best price for the next month or so?

also i heard a while ago that its best to stick with xp instead of vista… do you agree?

I think This system is definitely an excellent choice for video editing which requires allot of system resources.
If you already have a screen then just sell this one on eBay, because you need to have a total of $999 to get the discount.

The sale seems to be over.
You dont need to upgrade to a Core 2 Quad Processor, it is a bit excessive (although very powerful).
It’s recommended to upgrade the ram as much as possible, especially when using Vista(at least 2 GB). My personal preference, as well as many many others is to stick with XP. But upgrading the ram is still a very good thing for any computer.

I would recommend 3 to 4 gb of ram, large hard drive: 350 to 500 gb. Stay with XP for now (you can always upgrade to Vista later if it gets really good…), Pentium 2.00GHz procesor or the AMD equivalent, good video card, cd/dvd burner, card reader. BTW I use a 15 inch screen and it works just fine.
If you dont need the computer right now i would suggest you wait for another good dell sale, they always come around sooner or later. Dan post’s the realy good ones here.

P.S , the memory card slot driver wasnt connected, i sat on th phone with indian tech support, they finally figured out it wasnt connected at the end and showed me how to reconnect it to the motherboard.
I was pretty impressed with their service, better than my toshiba experiences!
