There’s no catch they just want to help out teachers and students. I’m a teacher and the school sends this link at the beginning of each school year.

After ordering, I checked the order status in my account. The status is “eligibility hold”. Also this “Your order requires verification of academic eligibility
before we can ship it. Click here to upload your eligibility.”

The folks on DDF who did this said it takes time and that it worked without verification for homeschool.

I’d recommend some patience…

It’s the normal office installation, so I don’t think this will ever expire.

People-it will last as long as you keep it on your computer
It’s a regular version-not subscription

It seems like it may be a scam on a certain level, as they are charging $9.95 for autocad when you can get it for free directly from the autocad site as a student or educator. It seems like they are a third party selling what is already free to begin with.

Is it good only for Mac?

I went to the Microsoft link and only available to educators 1-12th grade. This may or may not include homeschoolers since it is not listed. According to the documents they do require proof for educators and homeschooling. If they have a bug and verification is not needed, it is up to each individual to decide what to do but you should know the facts.

To all those questioning whether it’s ethical to purchase this under the home school option, it appears this may be open to parents of students as well (that is parents of any child between k-12 and on into college). If you click on the details button next to “who’s eligible” and then click on “other documents” it seems to indicate parents of these students can purchase this as well. Yes?

@MacDan: You commented that Open Office is free. I tried Open Office a while back and found it very hard to use and not optimal, deeming (in my eyes) Microsoft Office as being worth it’s price. Open Office, as many open source programs, are bogged down with many useless features that make them impractical and complicated. (An open source program is a program that is created and worked on by any volunteer programmer who wants to. They are always free, but usually is a case of too many cooks spoil the broth.) The only open source programs that I found useful were VLC video program (the program, not the app) and Audacity for audio editing.

Ok quick update, just checked and my order was cancelled!:) my account seemed to be refunded too. I geuss the deal is dead or requires proof! I went the lazy way of homeschool but now I will do it again as student and teacher. One for each kid as they need it!

@jj: It depends on what your computer is. If you have a 64 bit PC, then install the 64 bit version. That’s all.

@jj:for most usages and maximum compatability 32 bit is recommended. For extremely high capacity usage together with a 64 bit processor then 64 bit will be better

No. Only sign into Google if the website is Google, with an HTTPS in the address bar. Otherwise your login information will be compromised.

@Howie: Norton protects you by messing up and slowing your computer down so much that you can’t use it.
This way you can’t visit any suspicious websites!

I wasn’t sure how many of my computers could have this Office 2016 installed. It would not successfully activate on the second computer, so evidently the answer is “one”.

The activation process mentions that this is a “subscription.” Does that mean that Office quits working a year from now?

I ordered yesterday afternoon, under homeschool, receipt order confirmation as well as the norton protection email, but as of now, i have not received the code. Checking on the order, it is listed as pending receipt of eligibility.

I do not have any of the necessary info, as its not a registered KoDesh homeschool.

I have already on my Mac a 365 version and so when I downloaded this one from link it did not ask me for the code so my online version is expiring in March will it ask me when that expires??

I got the email with the link and product key as described in the post BUT the download is only 2 MB? How is that possible? Also it says next to the download button “Basic access 1 month included” does that mean this is just a 1 month trial of the software?? Please advise so I can know if I should try to get my money back

Duvie – it downloads the program when you install it. The 2 MB file isn’t the full program.

Based on my past experience purchasing MS suites through educational portals, I believe that the product key will NOT work with the regular MS Office download off the MS website.

For those wondering why they don’t have to enter download key. It looks like it is encoded in the actual download.

When you download the program, the file name has the product key in it.

I don’t see where one indicates whether one wants the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of the software. Is the software for both Windows operating systems?

I had Onedrive on my computer before I installed Microsoft 2016 and the Onedrive that automatically gets set up with 2016 is interfering with my original Onedrive. Did anyone else experience this issue?
Can you advise on how to disable the Onedrive that comes with 2016?
