My wife has a Galaxy S8, JJ has the Galaxy S8+, and I use a Note8. They are all truly incredibly capable and beautiful phones, you can’t possibly go wrong with any of them. Mimi prefers the smaller size of the S8, JJ likes the larger screen offered on the S8+, and I love the extra speed (thanks to extra RAM), dual OIS rear cameras, even larger screen, and the awesome S-Pen that comes with the Note8, though it does make the phone’s footprint much larger than the S8+.
I’m thrilled with my Note8. Thanks to its great processor and a whopping 6GB or RAM, the phone is lightning fast. The camera is truly amazing, and having dual cameras makes it easy to blur the background for professional looking pictures.
The phone is big, but that provides a great amount of real estate for browsing or running simultaneous apps. Plus there are easy one-handed mode shortcuts for when you need to use the phone with one hand.
The battery life is amazing. I do miss being able to swap out a fresh battery, but it seems that removable batteries have gone the way of the dodo.
Wireless fast charging in the convertible stand is awesome. I can have it on my desk and view notifications from the very useful always-on display.
The S-Pen comes in handy for taking notes, even when the screen is off. The translate function on the pen is very cool, I love being able to easily write on a screenshot to, and even the coloring app is fun.
It took a while, but I finally did find an app that works for call recording. That functionality has helped me several times in the past with airlines and credit card companies.
All of these phones are compatible will all phone carriers around the world.
If you buy from B&H and have a Visa business card, like a Chase Ink card, you can enroll in Visa Savings Edge for an additional 5% automatic cash rebate. B&H also doesn’t collect sales tax for orders shipped outside of NJ/NY. And B&H will throw in a free case with the S8 or S8+.

Real question here, are you sponsored by Samsung?
No.
If this was a paid ad I would have written that. I just love their phones 🙂
Coming from a note 4 how is the 8 ? Big upgrade or meh?
Massive upgrade. Very happy with it
Dan, please add the trade in option to the post. Some people will save more that way.
Dan, or anyone else with the Note 8 – did you get a screen protector (for the front) and if so, which? I know Dan linked to a case that he got, but it sounds like it was just for the back. I see tempered glass protectors, but do those really protect around the curved edges? Or better to go with the film/flexible type? I’ve used tempered glass on my Note 5, and am happy with it, but that has straight edges. 🙂
(As an aside, I am seeing something called ‘wet application’ for these screen protectors – is that the latest and greatest and actually works?)
Thanks!!
Any thoughts on if these will get cheaper at some point over the weekend? It seems a lot to be spending when the s9 is right around the corner….
Rabbi Dan, did you ever try this? I have it and is excellent

Someone else also asked….what about the trade in offer from Samsung directly? There is a $400 credit if you trade in one of the newer phones. Isn’t that a better deal? What is your opinion on that? Am I missing anything here?
Do you have one of those phones?
You would do better selling them on eBay as Samsung is priced $170 more than Amazon, so really you’re just getting $230. And it’s only for the last gen iPhone/Galaxy/Pixel.
@Dan seems like it’s 799 for the note 8…
