Here are the upcoming deals that caught my eye. You’ll need to be quick on the trigger to get them though!
04/25: 100K Hilton points for $495 with AMEX. 150K Hilton points for $742.50 with AMEX. 250K Hilton points for $1,237.50. Those numbers come out to .495 cents per point which could be worthwhile at upscale Hilton properties, though they are infamous for being extremely stingy with award availability (just try searching for Bora Bora availability) and for constantly devaluing their points. Even when the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem does come online (it was supposed to be open years ago and has been pushed back for years since then) it will cost at least 50K-80K points per night (though elite members like Hilton cardholders do get point discounts for extended stays) and they’ll likely play games with availability like other Israeli properties do making it very hard to redeem points there, but time will tell.
04/30: Universal Orlando 3-Day Admission Ticket for $85.50 with AMEX (normally $171). You can purchase up to 6 in a transaction. “The 3-Day Park to Park Ticket entitles one adult (ages 10+) admission to BOTH Universal Orlando Resort theme parks on the same day for three days. The ticket is valid for any three calendar days during a fourteen consecutive calendar day period which includes the first day any portion of the ticket is used. This ticket also includes fourteen consecutive calendar days of admission to the paid entertainment venues of Universal CityWalk which commences and includes the first day any portion of the ticket is used.”
05/02: Repeat of the Hilton offer from 04/25.
05/04: 5K Hertz points (enough for a 1-week rental of a standard vehicle) for $252 with AMEX, 9K Hertz points (enough for a 4 day weekend rental of a prestige collection vehicle like Mercedes Benz E Class) for $387 with AMEX, 15K Hertz points (enough for a 1 week rental of a prestige collection vehicle) for $648 with AMEX.
05/08: 6 nights at the Fairmont Kea Lani Maui or Fairmont Orchid Big Island for $1,575 with AMEX ($262.50 per night). The nights never expire. Breakfast in included. The Kea Lani is an awesome all-suites hotel and kicks the Hyatt and Starwood properties on Maui to the curb based on location, service, amenities, and room size.
05/09: 24K Hyatt points for $234 with AMEX (.974 cents per point). 30K Hyatt points for $297 with AMEX (.99 cents per point). 36K Hyatt points for $373.50 with AMEX (1.038 cents per point). 69K Hyatt points for $697.50 with AMEX (1.01 cents per point). Hyatt points are an excellent currency. Their luxury hotels are generally in category 4 (15K per night), category 5 (18K per night), or category 6 (22K per night). Category 6 hotels can normally cost over $1,000 per night. You can also get Hyatt points via Chase cards like the Hyatt card, Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card® Card, Ink Bold, etc.
Which ones (from my list or not from my list) will you be trying for?

Hertz deal comes out to about 4.3 cents per Hertz gold point.
Decent deal IMHO, since Hertz normally charges you 20 cents per Gold Point.
If I buy it with amex gold card whts the amount of points we get back per dollar maybe its worth taking it in to calculation
i was planning on buying those hilton points tomorrow, i had my wife sign up as well so i can buy 500k points, but after you post got a lil scared… bottom line, purchase or not?
can I transfer these hilton points to MR? if yes, whats ratio?
@march:
True, you’ll get 1 point per dollar.
@judah:
What do you want the points for?
@Hello:
No
thinking about the fairmont deal as i am platinum
but is it worth it i might not use it for a couple of years
what do you think dan
@mow:
They never expire and they’ll definitely come in handy for an awesome Hawaiian vacation when you have the time.
Plus as a Platinum you’ll be able to apply upgrade certs to these as well!
Which AMEX card qualifies for the bonus points?
And does it need to be charged at a Hilton property?
Thanks.
@Shaya:
Huh??
@Dan: loved your idea about the waldorf jerusalem… worth the chance?
@judah:
Depends what a risk-taker you are.
It’s entirely possible that they will make just 1 room available for awards and you’ll be stuck with a bunch of garbage points.
Or they may do the right thing, but somehow I don’t see too many Israeli tourist companies doing that 😛
Then you have the Hilton Citadel Jerusalem that dropped Hilton soon after opening and everyone who stocked up on points got messed over.
YMMV is the best I can say.
@Dan: also since we’re talking, i have around 150k bank of America world points- any suggestions on usage of these??
@judah:
I’m pretty sure Air Canada is the only option for those.
@Dan: so transfer them to my aeroplan?
@Dan:
come to think about it with my free night I can go on 2 4 day vacations sun-thurs
didn’t do much research but is hawaii better twice 4 days or once for a full week
re: the hertz deal,
what category is a full sized suv? I need one for 9 days in july.
I’m interested in a 4 night stay at Hilton suites – Ocean City MD.
How many HHonors points wud I need (I have a hard time checking with HHonors website kinda confusing) and would it be worth purchasing 100k-150k points?
@mow:
Better once for 8 days, (4 or 5 days per island).
@Aay B.:
Hard to help without dates, but plugging in 05/13-05/17 it would be $214+tax for a paid night or 50,000 points per night (42,500 points per night if you are elite or have a Hilton credit card)
i have 250k points with HAS advantage…what are those worth?
Whats the best use of amex membership rewards. I see that until 5.31.12 yo can transfer to BA at a 50% discount. Is that the best use?
Thanks
For the fairmont 6 night deal, can I buy more then 1 block? and can I use 2 rooms for 3 nights or must I use 1 room for 6 nights?
@steve:
It depends where you want to go.
I would recommend reading up on http://dansdeals.com/forums/
@paindoc:
There’s a limit of 1 purchase per person/credit card.
Yes, you can get 2 suites for 3 nights.
Hey Dan,
What do you think about the $315($350) for Loews Miami Resort? If I use for Memorial weekend, they price out to 450 a night. Would you think there will be black out days and such? Also, what if I bought 2, can I use them back to back?
Thanks Dan!
who/how/where to contact if one wants to purchase a daily special
Dan:
How do I buy the deal for the Fairmont Orchid? I don’t see a linky anywhere.
Never mind – I found the deal for 1750 and I don’t think its worth it.
Are the fairnont points in Hawaii transferable or can it only be booked in the buyers name?
( can I split it with a friend?)
question about comfort inn points. if i purchase choice points from them what can make them stop me from using them at other choice hotel options such as quality inn or use them in non US location?
The same Fairmont deal was $1570 last year BEFORE the 10% off- only $1413 with an Amex- why did they raise the price so much? Still think its a good deal, but its funny that the 10%-off price is higher than last years “full” price.
For the Hertz points: Do they ever expire? And can they combine with a code? (I’m under 21 and need to use the USAA code to rent underage)
If anyone doesn’t want their hertz points I will buy them from you
