Save $50 Off $250+ Orders From Costco.com Via Visa Checkout
- Costco members must use a Visa credit card and Visa Checkout on a $250+ order on Costco.com to qualify.
- Valid through 3/28.
- The statement credit will be applied to your Visa account balance approximately 6-8 weeks after the qualifying purchase.
- Limit one (1) statement credit per card and per member.
For example you should be able to purchase 2 of the $125 Costco Cash Cards to receive the $50 statement credit. You can then use the Cash Card in store, at Costco gas stations, or online.

So the 2 big questions….Does it have to vi Visa? Is the one per member enforced?
Read the post?
If someone took the time to write all the information down for the benefit of people he/she doesn’t even know, people should at least read more it before asking
Can the 250 spend be after tax?
Yes.
Are there limits how many times I can use this? Is this tied to Costco account, credit card or Visa checkout account?
Read the post?
I’d assume per card and Visa checkout account.
“Limit one (1) statement credit per card and per member”
I am aware of what it says. But I’ll be doing this a few times with separate cards and Visa Checkout accounts as I don’t think it will be a enforced.
I got two gift cards, if it works Great if not I guess I am not losing much.
That’s my plan.
The $50 off doesn’t show up when you check out so do I assume that it automatically comes off on your statement?
Read the post.
I have a lapsed membership but was able to login and purchase $250 of gift cards. We’ll see if the order gets filled and if I get the $50.
Is the cash card a gift card and can be sold?
Yes and yes.
You keep telling everyone to read the post. You assume, it is not tied to the Costco membership account. You have no way to verify it, at this point since its a statement credit. I understand that its likely tied to the Visa card, yet we don’t know that as a fact. The terms clearly state one per member. Unless you know something we don’t…
I have no idea if they will be able to enforce a per Costco member limit. After all, you don’t need to be a Costco member to bu on Costco.com and I highly doubt Visa is getting member level detail on the transaction. YMMV.
I was saying to read the post for other questions.
it required me to enter my member# in order to checkout, as items in ur cart requires a membership
Dan – i just tried this…hoping for the best. What’s the worst? The $250 is half of what my wife spends on a typical Costco visit, so no loss here.
Are these eGift cards, and, if not, how long does it take to ship?
Nope there regular hard gcs.
Probably 2-3 days.
look under the specifications of the product which shows it’s a regular gift card not an e-gift card.
Emailable/Printable at Home-No.
I am curious…why but two 125 cards and not just one 250 card. Is there a reason you suggested two lesser denominations?
They don’t sell $250 cards.
Sorry…I meant why buy two cards instead of one card for 250
There isn’t 250 card. They have only $200, $50 or $125, $125.
They have a $300 Costco cash card. I don’t have much worry about the extra $50 being tied up in a Costco cash card . If it takes my family more than a month to spend in Costco and at Costco gas that would be our lowest spending month there in years. I would buy 10 of them if there were no limits. I’ll probably try 2 using 2 different visa cards and 2 different Visa checkout accounts. My wife will set up her own new Visa Checkout.
It clearly states on the website that it’s one per account.
There are some other exclusions I’ve pasted below:
“. The following Visa cards are not eligible: Visa Buxx, Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Visa cards, EBT Visa cards and other Visa-branded cards whose transactions are not processed through the Visa U.S.A. payment system.
Limit one (1) statement credit per card and per member.
Not valid for orders at the online pharmacy, Costco Travel (Costcotravel.com), Costco Business Delivery (Costcobusinessdelivery.com), CostcoGrocery Same-Day powered by Instacart (sameday.costco.com) or the online Costco Photo Center (costcophotocenter.com). ”
I just purchased a couple of NYC City Explorer Pass cards for an upcoming stay in NYC. I made up the remainder of the $250 with Costco GC. Here’s hoping the credits come sooner than 8 weeks.
do executive members earn 2% cash back on gift cards? in other words can I double dip.
No.
But using the Citi Costco Visa will get 2% on top, no??
Sure, though there are cards that earn more than an effective 2%.
https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/chase-quadfecta-least-23-arent-rightbut/
But when you spend the gift cards at Costco, your executive account will earn the 2% rebate.
Of course. The question was whether you can double dip.
You don’t earn 2% on COSTCO gift cards but any other ones you do! I ordered the Krispy Kreme GCs and it showed that I was getting $.90 back on that $45 purchase and that person above will get that same 2% back on those NYC explorer cards if they are an executive member. It might be worth noting this in main post. 🙂
In for 1. Thanks Dan.
READ THE POST BEFORE ASKING ALL YOUR SILLY QUESTIONS.
At least to my knowledge Dan is not a prophet he can only tell you as much as he knows which is written all in the post above.
Do I have to be a Costco member to spend the gift card in store?
No.
So if I’m understanding correctly, I can avert the entire membership fee by simply buying gift cards online?
They don’t normally sell cash cards to non-members.
Visa Checkout is experiencing system issues. Try again later or choose a different payment method.
Anyone else getting this?
When placing the order it states that you need a membership number to place this order for the cash cards.
Visa Checkout is experiencing system issues. Try again later or choose a different payment method. — got this error twice now in past 2 mins.
Nevermind..it went through ! ..
I made 5 orders of $250 GCs from 5 VCO accounts. Ask me in 8 weeks how it went 🙂
fingers crossed for you :)))
Hope we wont really have to wait 8 weeks for this … Hopefully it’ll be like the amex offers that usually post within a couple of days. Give us the news over chol ha-moed!
Just curious, did you guys use multiple Costco accounts?
How did it go? think it’s 8 weeks….
I’m having trouble adding a visa card to my Visa Checkout account. Tried a few cards, I keep getting the an error “The information you entered does not match the information on record”
Same here. Not sure what information is incorrect either. Credit card info is 100% correct, and billing info matches my bank.
How long will it take for the credit to post?
The statement credit will be applied to your Visa account balance approximately 6-8 weeks after the qualifying purchase.

RESULTS…….. this email from Costco
Dear …..
Thank you for your recent order with Costco.com.
Unfortunately, due to overwhelming demand of cash cards orders, there has been a slight delay in getting them fulfilled. We expect your order to ship the week of April 2nd. Please note, orders that included multiple cash cards will receive multiple envelopes upon receipt
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We value you as a customer and appreciate your business. If you should have additional questions and/or concerns, please contact us.
Sincerely,
Costco.com Member Service
Looks like we all are getting this e-mail.
Does this mean we may loose the promo…. Will purchase post the day of shipping?
Maybe. I know from buying these cash cards in the past that the credit card is not charged until it ships.
My CC was charged and I have received the message.
Any news on this….?
My cards have been charged but date of charge is April 2nd. Ship date. Any sense whether this will be eligible for $50 VC credit?
When freedom’s category was COSTCO i had the same issue but when i called chase they added the points stating they knew Costco takes time to ship…
… But with this we’ll all wait and see
Thanks
same here, order placed on March 26, but the card was not charged until April 2. Need to check with Visa or Costco on the $50 VC credit?
Same here (purchased and card auth showed up on 3/26 but cards shipped and official charge on Apr 4). If this were a Chase promo, I would be comfortable they would come through for us, but this being a Visa Checkout, well that is the big unknown !
I ordered the cards right when I saw ur post but they ran out of them and my order only got shipped and charged for right now will I still be eligible for the credit?
Cards delivered …. Taking a deep breath for the statement credit
2 $125 GC arrived. ordered 3/26, but not charged to card until april 6. T&C says 6-8 weeks for $50 credit to appear as a statement credit. I’ll check back in May.
I just received my statement. and I don’t see a $50 credit on the $250 Costco transaction
No $50 credit posted yet for me. Transaction of $250 in GC’s posted 4/2/18. I know it might take more time but wanted to add this data point.
Same comment as many others….I placed an order on March 26th for the gc’s, but the charge date on my statement was April 6. Still haven’t seen a statement credit. Guess we’re all waiting for next month’s statement….. If anyone DID receive the credit, please post here. TIA
I placed my order on March 26th (and received costco.com email confirmation of order).
Order shipped March 29th.
My credit card online statement and PDF statement shows March 30th transaction date.
Have not received the $50 promotional credit.

Received the email from Costco: ”
Dear Bradley Wyatt,
Thank you for your recent order with Costco.com.
We have been notified by Visa Checkout that your order did meet the eligibility requirements for the $50 statement credit. Due to the overwhelming response to this promotion, there has been a slight delay in processing the credits.
