Just out of curiosity, tried it for 6 nights at Park Hyatt Paris, early August. About $900/night for “deluxe room”, even after “Great! You just saved AED 500 on your booking”.

For the Embassy Suits in Niagara Falls it has amazing prices!
About 110 dollars for a FALLSVIEW room

I chose a “pay at hotel” rate and it worked fine… so obviously it’s something else that isn’t making it work sometimes

Folks, you need to do at least 2 nights and it can’t say pay at hotel on the search page!

@sky121: positive. The only thing that might be affecting it is im on mobile. I didnt see anything in the post though that said it made a difference.

Booked 2 nights at an all inclusive in Punta Cana… so it works!

Dan, fyi I just last night booked a room for 5 nights at the Leonardo Plaza in Jerusalem for a total of $1080 including breakfast. On Cleartrip, for the same 5 nights, even after applying the code the total comes out to $1103 and I’m not even sure if that includes breakfast (additional $12/day)

When I search it gives me REALLY good rates, but when I click to book, it triples the price.

@runnergirl: there is a penalty of AED 300 – at least on my reservation plus whatever the hotel charges. It varies. You must check for your hotel under “rate details” next to the rate

Code worked for me, but having payment issues. I called Chase and they said that my card was authorized in the amount, but did not see a booking confirmation # or email.

Not working for me and currency keeps switching over to INR.

Looks like Cleartrip charges 40 AED (~$10) cancellation fee in addition to any hotel cancellation fees.

I selected $ on top by currency-but at the payment page it switched by to AED. Any way to change that?

@johnny: Same thing happened to me. They authorizes the charge 2 times but got the error. I called India and the guy gave me a Trip ID and told me to call in an hour. I didn’t want to wait and miss the sale so I used a different browser (IE) and a Master Card instead of visa and it worked. Well, I just got an email saying we were unable to book your trip (for the 2 times I was charged but got error) the pending charges will drop, so I’m glad a went ahead and booked again. I would say try a mastercard.

For me it worked when I typed the code in ALL CAPS but not in lower case. Not sure this is others’ issue but give it a try.

By the way, seems to changes price on “pay at hotel” rate. Dan, is there a problem you are aware of for pay at hotel if it appears to work?

5 nights, deluxe – new city room w/breakfast (for 1). Rate was $204/night except Fri which was $264

Hotels.com has the Leonardo Plaza hotel for 234 a night in December

Tried some hotels and found after conversion, that you’re actually better off going to the hotel’s website to get a lower rate. Example: Clarion in Quebec is more expensive after the discount than on the Choice hotels website (pretty close). Could be they’ve inflated the prices per night to make up the loss + SO MANY hotels (vast majority) are sold out when I can’t believe they’re sold old as far in advance as it claims.

Worked for me, booked Nov 26-28 for Doubletree Hilton in Detroit! Needed two rooms, so did it twice and worked both times. Thanks, Dan!
FYI- Chase CC didnt work, since it was a suspicious international charge (hate that- happens to me all the time). Used my Aadvantage Citbank card, worked perfectly both times…

Dan, just curious if you know anything more about Cleartrip. I searched yesterday for a 3 night stay in Key West and there were several good hotels available for around $100 per night. I saved the search and checked today and everything went up by around 150%. Is this normal with Cleartrip? I was impressed that they had such low rates to begin with, but now they’re gone. Do they go up at the end of the week or something? I’ve never heard of Cleartrip before seeing your post, so I’m curious if this is somewhat normal.
