Personally, I would love to see Amazon step in and buy the stores for pennies on the dollar. But the future of BB&B remains uncertain.
I have and am sure many other couples have fond memories of going with their fiancé to a Bed Bath & Beyond store to register for wedding gifts to outfit their new homes.
I have scored many awesome deals at Bed Bath & Beyond over the years and will be sad to see those discounts go away.

Dan, I’d love your take, a case study, on this company’s final years. I have my wedding registry with these guys more than a decade ago probably haven’t purchased anything since. What was their plan how do they expect to evolve in the last decade? They definitely saw the writing on the wall.

BB&B is one of the last brick and mortar chain stores to actually sell high quality stuff. Wal-Mart and Target are much more affordable, but the quality just can’t compre to BB&B. Yes, the higher price point killed it. Fond memories of college dorm shopping and wedding registry.

In our local NJ store I noticed the shelves seemed quite a bit emptier, but they insisted they were staying open unlike the many other stores which closed.
OK, technically that was correct…for now.
I paid them the $29 for the Welcome Rewards + (Free shipping and unlimited 20% off)….got to try to get a refund for that!
Amazon isn’t too interested in retail these days, as they closed their (book)stores during the pandemic, and they’re scaling back across all other divisions. BB&B’s downfall was over-expansion, lack of combating pricing discrepancies re: their 20% coupon & the final nail was nearly getting rid of all name brands in lieu of house brands.
Amazon having their own issues. They may be obsolete in the next decade.
Their only advantage was fast shipping, now everyone has that. They are pressuring their vendors into lower pricing, but it’s not working.
To further my comments, check out how much a spalding outdoor basketball hoop is on amazon vs Walmart. $220 vs $600.

While I agree with you on the hoop, I think you should check in the archives and see how many times the AND1 basketball has been on sale for $5 on Amazon. I already have a stash of them for presents…

Yes, my parents were on it. Some passenger refused to listen to flight attendants 3 hours in (something about wanting to sit elsewhere while he waited to use the bathroom). Ended up getting the flight turned around.

I live in CNY and our local store was doing their final store closing sales just this past weekend. Do you know anything about whether those stores that were already closing before this bankruptcy will stay open like all the others, until they sell everything? I haven’t checked out the store but missed out on their sales (email said it ended yesterday).
My local store (New Hyde Park) has already closed! Drove out to Westbury store only to discover they were out of Sodastream replacement canisters ☹️. Went to Staples for the exchange (but no 20% off coupon…)
