In January WalMart lowered their free shipping threshold from $49 to $35 and Amazon matched that offer in February.
TargetĀ announced that they will actually raise their free shipping threshold from $25 to $35 tomorrow.
How does Amazon respond to that?
They lowered their free shipping spend threshold from $35 to $25!
Amazon’s investors may not like that, but once again the online shopping wars are a boon for consumers.
Of course Amazon also offers free 2 day shipping on all orders forĀ Amazon Prime membersĀ and they offer free shipping with no minimum order for Subscribe & Save items.
Your move, WalMart.

Doesn’t Target offer free shipping (and 5% discount) when paying with RedCard?
@Sola:
Yes
Its about time they came back down that far. For someone who doesnt have prime and used all 30 day free trials from multiple accounts this will work till they lower even further with this war.
Thanks @dan
@Sola: yes they do, this war seems to be for customers who are not loyal to any program yet.
I agree that amazon is amazing but I think it’s vital that Walmart stays in business to keep the market competitive. If amazon puts Walmart out of business we are doomed and the very amazon that we love will come back to bite us.
Strongly devalued prime for me, considering that a whole lot of cheap items are add-on only.
If it’s a war between amazon and walmart, why is amazon responding to target?
@Anonymous:
True, though Prime gives 2 day shipping, no-rush shipping credits, 20% off diapers, Prime video, etc.
@Ben:
It’s a war for online dominance.
They get to one-up WalMart and stick it to Target for going the wrong direction in the online war all at the same time.
If you are not a prime member then it will take 10 days for your order to arrive
They keep tagging more and more items as add on only so this makes a big defference
Chairs are $17 bucks at walmart now. Just need them to be in stock š
I believe if you don’t have prime they intentionally fulfill your order a week late. It takes way longer then any other company.
@Abe:
+1. Don’t know where they have storage to keep all these items in “shipment delay” status
Yes they definately intentionaly delay shipping your order. They know that with warehouses so close to your home it will come in 2 days without you having prime! Just look when it actually does get shipped it’s almost always 2 days at your door… And I hate their sorting feature it’s fake if you sort price low to high they deliberately stick in the most random things and they leave out half of the items… Forcing you to search by most relevant!
Thanks @Dan for your constant updates.
I personally started lately to shop at Walmart.com since it’s much cheaper than Amazon.com in a lot of items for example Huggies Diapers
@Yanky:
Link?
1st one that came up on a random search, Huggies size 4, 192 count:
$40.27 at WalMart.
$31.73 at Amazon without Prime or $26.40 with Prime
Thansk Dan for that mikasa wine glass deal, i ordered 2 sets of 8glasses, just got them and opened them and 1 box had one broken another had 2 broken. So I called amazon and complained and. Said that it’s not ok that they send broken items, so she offered 100$ credit, even though I only paid 65$ for the entire order. I said that’s so nice of her but that won’t do it, I said it’s selling now for $45 each so it’s gonna cost me $90 to replace the whole thing, that doesn’t make me feel good having to go through the hassle of reordering them again. So she said ok “no worries, I’ll give you $150 credit and replace them for free, you will reiceve them Tuesday”. You have to love amazon’s customer service. Just always ask to speak with a manger right away anytime you call amazon, at each level in amazon customer service they have different amounts of how much they can offer for compensation. I love amazon!!!
@Dan:
Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, Size 3, 222 Count
Walmart has it for 29.79 and Amazon was $39.79 it changed yesterday to the same price $29.79
Another example “Gain Liquid Laundry Detergent, Lavender Scent,Regular washer and HE compatible, 96 loads, 150 fl oz” is on Amazon $26.61 and on Walmart I bought it Friday for $14.97 and so are a lot of different things much cheaper on Walmart
Im a target fan myself. I have a free target debit card and many basic items come in two days anyways. Excellent custimer service. I have two kids in diapers and so far it hasnt been worth it for me to spend 100 dollars to save 20% on diapers. Ive saved alot more by waiting until targets diaper sales. Yes amazons boxes may still be one or two or even four dollars cheaper but I wont have saved 100 dollars by the end of the year. Especially if you use the no rush shippibg credit then you arent getting your item in two days anyways just to save a dollar. Ive found target to be cheaperon itmes that I was looking to buy. For example a bebe au lait nursing cover was 35 on amazon and 20. 5 on target last week (I dont know the price now.) plus they will always price match. For me its not wortb 100$ plus I support amazons competition so amazon will stay competitive and not become a monopoly which would only harm everyone.
Let’s not forget- Walmart still has an advantage over Amazon in that their free shipping is 2-day shipping. Once you hit the $35 threshold, your stuff will come in two days. Personally that is very worth it to me. And you can also do store pickup.
@Anonymous: except if you own the echo dot or another Alexa enabled device then add on items can be shipped for free without the min $25 spend requirement for add-on items
I hope Walmart destroys Amazon.
I like amazon over walmart because of there return policy walmart can make you more problems and most sellers on walmart don’t offer free returns.
@Anonymous:
HUGGIES Snug & Dry Ultra Diapers, Size 3, 222 Diapers:
I’m seeing $31.07 on WalMart here.
And $21.83 on Amazon here after coupon plus subscription.
That Gain detergent is sold by a 3rd party on Amazon, not an apples to apples comparison.
@ELi:
Why?
I hope the war continues forever.
I was shopping today on walmart and amazon and i kept on seeing this fight, i just wish i could send in to walmart some prices from amazon they should match š
Does anyone know why, when returning an item with prime shipping, it only allows me to return it for free if I return it to an Amazon locker? It no longer allows me to take it to the nearest ups drop off location.
@Anonymous: haha!!! Never ever did I get my Walmart order in 2 days … Amazon I always got in 2 days or less… Amazon definitely wins in the 2 day shipping category…
@Target fan: is that a new thing that target orders come in 2 days?
In my experience target orders took exactly a full week…
In this day and age when I’m spoiled with amazon 2 day delivery, a full week is way too long
@SM: thanks for sharing that. Never knew. I should try it. Thanks
Dan is target that stupid? Why would they raise the threshold???
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Razor-A5-Lux-Scooter/10974768
the Red Scooter is much cheaper than Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Razor-A5-Lux-Scooter-Red/dp/B01EM42B74
@SM: thanks so much… just ordered an add on item..thru my echo.. For 2.99 – 1.50 coupon + Tax… and it’s arriving on Wednesday
