Update: You can find the terms of the promotion here.
American Express is a DansDeals.com advertiser.
You can link your American Express Membership Rewards card to your Amazon account by clicking here.
Once you do that just add anything $50 or more that is shipped and sold from Amazon to your cart. This won’t work for items sold by 3rd parties.
This also won’t work for Amazon gift card purchases but it will work on gift cards for hundreds of stores found here. Gift cards sold by Amazon include Airbnb, Gap Inc, Netflix, Lowe’s, Nordstrom, Office Max, Southwest, Staples, Starbucks, Uber, Whole Foods, and more.
At checkout select the Membership Rewards card that you linked.
You may need to click “Change” by the credit card at checkout if it’s showing a different default credit card.
Select the Membership Rewards card and then click on “Pay for entire order with points.”
On the next page apply the following promo code for $25 off $50 (Exp: 12/31/17 or after 80K uses): AMEX17EVER
Using 3,571 points to save $25 would be downright criminal, they can be used for over $71 of flights with the Business Platinum card! After applying the $25 off code be sure to scroll down and drop the number of points to 0.01 on the final checkout page in order to use 1 point to save $0.01:
You should see the $25 AMEX Promo and $0.01 from the 1 point used at checkout:
If this doesn’t work for you then you can try calling Amazon (888-280-4331) or chatting with Amazon to get it manually applied to your account.
You can also try linking your card to another Amazon account and see if it works from there as well!
What will you buy with $25 off $50? Hit the comments!

@Dans you sure youre able to spare one of those miles??
Is BlueCash Everyday card eligible?
“We’re sorry, but your Card is not currently enrolled in the Membership Rewards program.”
Doesn’t look like I can enroll on Amex’s site.
@yaakov:
🙂
@Anon:
That card doesn’t earn MR points.
Stacks with the Amazon Move Promo as well.
This worked on both of my Amazon accounts. So easy. Thanks!!!
Will this work if you took advantage of this at the end of this past year as well?
I got an Uber gift card. The simplest! 😉
Thanks Dan!
Do I have to manually save this promo to my Amex account before going to Amazon?
@Web Developer: no
Didn’t work on either of my accounts. It said this code could not be applied to this purchase. Or something like that.
Thanks Dan. Worked perfectly. Got a landries 50 gift card. We go there regularly so 50% off is a great deal for something we would do anyway. Thanks so much Dan!!
Getting this 🙁
‘The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.’
Thanks Dan, got a $50 Nordstrom gift card for half off
@Daniel:
@hsinaz:
Try chatting with Amazon.
delta skymiles amex wont work either
@AJ:
It only works with cards that earn Membership Rewards points.
does the amex business gold card work? or can anyone list eligible amex cards?
thanks!
@Dan: Chatted with the rep and she said she said I was eligible but I have to order first. I made the order with 0.01 points and paid 49.99. She took down the order number and will apply $25 when it ships. I am just concerned that the order total is 1 cent below 50.00 now. Hmm… will see if it flies.. Thanks Dan!
Amazon said to call AmEx
Thanks Dan! Worked for Me! $50 Lowe’s Gift card it is!
@Dee:
I added a list of cards.
@Anonymous:
Should be fine.
@anonymous:
HUCA
@SE:
Nice!
Chatted with Amazon, they told me to contact Amex, how do I go about it?
Saved $25 on a Nordstrom gift card – sweet!
@EER:
Try calling or chat again.
The Amazon promo code not working has nothing to do with AMEX.
Thanks Dan, I’m trying to add my Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express OPEN but its saying there was an error… can anyone help with this?
@Dee:
Try from another Amazon account?
Here’s what Amazon Chat are saying:
“I was able to locate some information on the promotion but I am not able to see the restrictions as this promotion was offered by AMEX
There may be other restriction that apply or also a private offer to your friend, so I am going to ask you to contact your friend to see if he got an email with terms and condition.”
@Anonymous:
Try calling Amazon?
Worked perfectly for me! Thanks!
@Dan: They told me I should place the order and after the order ships they’ll refund me the $25.
I have the Zync card (which is discontinued) do you think that;s the problem?
@Jay:
Great!
@Anonymous:
That’s fine.
@Joe:
same question…
most recent update from Amazon chat:
“My supervisor have also check on the issue regarding this promotion, we are going to make a escalation to our Promotions Department once they have review this they will contact you via email regarding the issue that you are having.”
Thanks OP and Dan! Used for Bissell Vacuum 1330. Pretty cheap based on Camel and has only come down $5-6 less then it is now.

Great deal and needed one!
Thanks Dan, worked with Amex blue.
Can it be done multiple times for multiple cards?
Worked great! Thanks for the tip.
Ysy, got a $50 Uber GC for 19.99 – thanks!
I’m trying to buy a Starbucks gift card and I’m chatting with Amazon they said you can’t use reward points to buy gift cards
Worked for me…Thnx!!! Got a Nordstrom GC
Worked to buy gift cards from 2 Amazon accounts!
Haven’t gotten promo to work yet but the chat rep did provide a $12.50 courtesy credit on my next non-gift card order. If only I got paid for every HUCA!
Chatting with Amazon, they asked me where I got the code from… what should I say?
Thank you Dan!!! You just saved me $25.
Thanks for the reminder. I tried doing this a few weeks ago on new AMEX card and, for some reason, it couldn’t “find” my card. It worked fine today, though. So there may be a several week gap between getting an eligible AMEX card and setting up the Amazon link.
Did not work
Amazon is going to credit my amex $25.00
They just told me it’s going to be an amazon credit
Thanks, Dan. Worked beautifully.
Why is mine not working
I’m using a gold business open amex card
Dan, You mention using points with Business Platinum card for flights (2 cent/point). Can you suggest other good ways to use the points? or a link to one of your other great posts that would give me some ideas.
didnt work from one of my accounts, so tried it from another account and it worked
thanks all!
Also got a rep asking for the link to the offer- not telling them it’s from DD!
they want a link to the promo
CHAT: “Thank you for your patience. I had checked the details and found that the promo code that you provide is not valid.”
Can you buy an Amazon gift card from lowes with a lowes gc?
They wanted a link and I said my friend shared it with me, that worked no problem!
It’s not working for all GC trying to buy a Safeway GC and it’s not working
It shows the price of $50, when I add the promo code it takes it down to $25, when I pay with points it deducts 3,571 points. I already ordered, checked my Amex points and 3571 points were deducted. I called amazon, they said that was the promotion.
@ZT:
You didn’t follow the instructions in the post.
***MAKE SURE YOU ADD THE MILE FIRST!!!!!***
@Mark
I tried with another card under the same account. Doesn’t seem to work.
that worked. thanks Dan!
It worked perfectly, just got a Whole Foods $50 gift card for $25. Thanks Dan!
the promo code isnt working. in chat the rep will only give me off if i pay the entire amount with points
Does anyone have an email address or an order number that the promo worked for? They told me that the promo didn’t launch yet so I told them my friend did it, now there asking me for my friends email…
@Dan. Please explain what I missed. I started by clicking on the link and linking my AMEX.

any idea if itll work from a different account again, maybe with an AU card?
I recently cleaned out my MR points and only have 1,800 which isn’t enough to pay for the entire order (as described in the first steps of the post) so the code isn’t working. Any workaround?
Hello,
My name is Noel and I am writing this email as a follow up with your recent contact to our customer service department.
I’m sorry to learn that you are unable to use the promotional code AMEX17EVER to avail $25 off for purchase of $50 or more worth of eligible items on Amazon.
Please be know that, We occasionally offer promotional certificates to potential customers or to select existing customers, to encourage them to shop at Amazon.com.
Please be informed that, the promotion to receive $25 off for purchase of $50 worth or more of eligible items on Amazon was offered by invitation only to a limited group of customers, and is valid only for the e-mail addresses to which it was sent. We regret that we cannot extend this offer to other customers.
However, in appreciation of your valuable business, we’ve decided to waive this restriction. To help you with this, I’ve gone ahead a mile and have successfully added a promotional certificate of $10.00 to your Amazon account as an exception. Your promotional balance doesn’t appear in Your Account, but will always display at checkout when you place an order through the Shopping Cart for an eligible item shipped and sold by Amazon.
We value all of our customers highly, and appreciate your loyalty. I hope you’ll be able to take advantage of one of our future promotions.
If you require any additional help or assistance please feel to contact us as we are always here to help you.
I hope I was able to help you. It was my pleasure assisting you. Take care!
We’d appreciate your feedback. Please use the links below to tell us about your experience today.

Code didn’t work for me, so I chatted as Dan suggested. Getting a $25 credit applied.
“Okay. request you to place the order. I will issue a refund of $25 within 24 hours of shipping of the item and send you an email Please place the order.”
It worked for me for a Starbucks gift card. Now I get some FREE COFFEE with more points to get MORE FREE COFFEE!
Why doesnt the blue sky card work? it blue sky rewards
Is there any way to know when they’re reaching 80k? I wanna place my order next week…
They told me yesterday that I would get the $25 credit after placing the order, but I don’t see the credit yet.
Thanks Dan! It worked and I saved $25 on a household appliance I had been debating over. This sealed the deal.
@DP:
I was told the same thing. The credit will post AFTER it ships
Dan,
Is the offer per MR account or per Amex card? I have 2 Amex cards tied to the same MR account.
Thanks.
Do you have to have a prime account for this offer? Cuz its not working for me. Using the amex everyday card
thanks dan $50 @ nordstrom sweet!!!
“Offer is not available to American Express Membership Rewards eligible cards whose points have been previously used for purchases at Amazon.com in the past twenty four months.” is what Amazon is telling me
Make sure what you are purchasing is sold “By Amazon” and shipped “By Amazon” or it won’t work. Also, the Gift Cards should be from “ACI Gift Cards”. ACI is owned by Amazon, so it’s fine. If you have other amazon accounts for say, other family members, make sure you only use a different card for each transaction (I don’t think it works with amex cards that have different numbers for AU’s)…
Saying code cannot be applied to purchase
Tried it today and it worked for me. Used 0.01 in points and got a $50 Safeway GC for $24.99. Thanks, Dan!
doesn’t work with gift cards according to amazon. had a chat with them and they said it does apply to any type of gift cards. tried getting an uber gift card.
Are airbnb gcs stackable on airbnb.com ?
@nate:
DROPR.
@duvid:
Yes.
Tried with biz plat and blue4biz both didn’t work tried opening anew amz acct and linking those same cards after deleting them from the first acct still no worky ….any suggestions other than chatting? And what’s a good num to call ? Also can i get the promo for au cards also ?
Correction they wouldn’t let me link the cards to my new acct for pay with points in the first place….and i got the num from the post btw
Still haven’t gotten my $25 credit yet, which they said I would get when the order shipped (which was 2 minutes after placing the order). I’m chatting with a rep now and they want to give me an Amazon Promo Credit, but I want the money back on my credit card like they said I would.
After 3-4 regular phone reps and having one agree that it’s a valid code I got disconnected mid call… so we took it to the supervisor and boom $25 credit…
Pretty funny to see the email they sent me..
How to take advantage of this promotion:
If you haven’t already linked your American Express card to your Amazon account, you can do that here.
Shop at Amazon.com and add $50 worth of products (which must be sold and shipped by Amazon.com) to your Shopping card.
Many merchant gift cards work as well, so you can go ahead and search for merchant gift cards here.
On the payment page, select your linked Membership Rewards earning credit card. Select “Choose a different amount†and enter the number of points you want to use towards your purchase. Since I do not like redeeming my points at Amazon (due to the low redemption value), I entered just 1 cent which means 1 point will be applied. For the promotion to apply, the minimum amount required is only 1 point!
Do not do full points as it is not a good value!
You will see the $25 taken off on the right-hand side displaying your total amount.
The terms state that to be eligible for this offer, you must be logged into an account which has been active for 90 days or longer. It also states that the offer is not available to American Express Membership Rewards eligible cards whose points have been previously used for purchases at Amazon.com in the past twenty four months.
