You can link your American Express Membership Rewards card to your Amazon account by clicking here.
Once you do that just add anything $50 or more that is shipped and sold from Amazon to your cart. This won’t work for Amazon gift card purchases but it will work for gift cards that are good for other places like Nordstrom, Southwest, and Starbucks.
At checkout select the Membership Rewards card that you linked, click on “choose a different amount,” and enter 0.01 as the amount you want to spend with points.
Of course you can use more that just 1 point if you want to, but the value is just criminal. You’ll do way better using them for travel or selling them on the grey market.
On the next page enter the following promo code for $15 off $50 (Exp: 11/13): SWP9AXP15
If you’ve already used points in the past 24 months the promo code may not work, though you can try deleting your Membership Rewards card from your Amazon account and then adding a new Membership Rewards card to see if that allows you to use the promotion.

Will this work with subscribe and save items. They usually break up the purchases to multiple transactions
worked for $50 Staples gift card
@Eli Per the link, “Please note, however, that rewards points cannot be used for all purchases on Amazon.com, and items that currently may not be purchased using Shop with Points include some digital goods, Kindle downloads, Subscribe and Save items, AmazonFresh, or orders containing Pre-order items.”
Bizarre
I’ve used points on Amazon on the past but tried removing and adding a different card.
When I added the promo code it said that it can’t be applied. I was going to cancel the order but noticed that there was a $15 SWP credit applied to the purchase.
Placed the order and got a confirmation email confirming the order with the $15 off.
can it be multiple items totaling above 50 or only one item?
@Mo: Multiple items.
Worked with Staples gift card plus I got the 5.99 pantry promotional credit for slow shipping.
@Eli:
I tried- it does not give the option to use points for me…. I did buy a shaver I was on the fence about thought! thanks!!!
I tried again, no go 🙁
Hi Dan, Does it work on a few items adding up to $50?
Can you get $15 off $50 many times using different AMEX cards?
Will it work if I wasnt targeted?
LB: No, I was not able to use the promo more than once. I tried deleting the AMEX card from my account and then re-adding it but still got an error message.
@dd:
Worked for me and I wasn’t targeted.
Update: This is only exclusively for orders ENTIRELY fulfilled and sold by Amazon.com for $50 or more. Having any items that aren’t from Amazon.com in your cart will invalidate the promo, whether or not you have $50 of Amazon.com items in your cart.
too bad I only have two primary card with rewards point… both worked fine and I wasn’t targeted… purchase two Norstrom gift cards.
FYI, worked on a Netflix e-card for 50 dollars (which you can use to replenish your funds of your netflix account.) that’s almost 2 months of free netflix!
Thanks for the comments guys. I removed items that weren’t sold and shipped by Amazon. And when I put in the code, it gave me an error message and said it could not be applied to my order. However, bec of an earlier commentor, I checked my total anyway, and the $15 credit was applied:)
Just bought a $50 whole foods gc and worked like a charm. Thanks Dan!!!
Figured i will point out that this will only work for items sold thru AMAZON.COM I was trying to figure out why it didn’t work for me after realizing this and bought items from AMAZON.COM it went right away.
