Actually, it was selling for $399.99 and is a $100.00 price drop.

Mark

Odd – it would seem counter-intuitive for them to artificially diminish the price drop.

Kidooo

I think they are comparing it to the list price, which is $399. Yesterday they were selling above list price which Amazon does very often when there’s no or little comptetion.

Dan

And back to $499 now.

Dan – technically true about yesterday. But looking at CCC, appears the tactic is to raise the price to $499 for a day or two so that the resulting drop seems more precipitious. Except for three days, price has been $399 since ASIN release a month ago.

Interesting that they now show “list price” as 399.

A suggestion – you often mention something was “X” price yesterday – this is sometimes disingenuous. Mentioning average price or simply lowest ever on Amazon would be sufficient.

Dan

Whenever we don’t say yesterdays price, people ask what it was.

Should we start going yesterday, average, and whether it’s the lowest ever? I’m sure people will find what to kvetch about. Too much data, or using the wrong site to calculate the average price, so that we really should post the average price from multiple tracker sites……ein l’davar sof.

Maybe you could have all sorts of graphs, indices, and price predictions like an ETrade stock page.

I hear, and it does involve extra work. However it is an easy system to game if we only have yesterday’s price to compare it to. (Some users definitely don’t know how to go about using trackers and really on you to know if the deal is good.)

Basically this comes down to many “deals” sites being sponsored and usually not offering such great deals. You are much more ethical and “real” deal than the rest, but adding a layer of information to have the savviest consumers possible is always a good thing.

Dan

If a deal is sponsored then it will say so. And most items we post are the lowest price ever.

MM

Alive again.
