In this case I ordered the $79 Kindle with special offers with the Unlimited package. I was actually charged $35.53 for the Kindle and $43.47 for the Unlimited package. When I changed the Unlimited package into a gift card it gave back the $43.47 as a “Gift card claim”, making the effective amount paid for just the Kindle alone $35.53.

Dan – after placing your order you can go back to “My Orders” and apply the gift card you received from the Kindle Unlimited and apply it to the order so your credit card gets charged less. Even better deal that you can use the credit right away as long as the item hasnt shipped.
FYI – Credit is 49.31 for HD 7, which is still a good deal (89 compared to 109).
Just curious – if you cancel the order after redeeming the gift card – do you lose the credit?

Ordered the fire HD 7 2 hours ago got a confirmation but never got the conformation for the Kindle unlimited?
there is a better deal here if you it right – if you have the amazon visa card, and prime member
1) log out of amazon
2) add HD7 AND amazon prime
3) Go to Regular Kindle and Add it to cart WITH Unlimited
4) Go to Cart and a) Delete regular kindle (you should now have kindle fire 7, amazon prime, and unlimited in your cart). and b) select checkbox that amazon prime is a gift.
5) Go to checkout. Apply code KDL30ARC after selecting your amazon Visa Card
Checkout – you will get email for unlimited, as Dan describes here, but also an email for PRIME. Select that you’re already a member, and then click on redeem as gift card.
Basically after all is set and done, the kindle HD7 should cost around $43 after tax!!!

Yes cancel, you probably used the wrong link. Make sure you use the one that includes Kindle Unlimited, the bundle package.

Here is what you are missing: While you are still paying for the gift card, Amazon is selling you the kindle for a much lower price because it thinks you also purchased the Kindle anytime bundle.
I ordered last night and still didn’t get the second email. I was wondering what would happen if I cancel just the unlimited part of the order. On my order list they show up as two separate orders.

I followed the instructions last night at about 9:45 and I never got the second email. I am going to wait until i receive the kindle Unlimited email, which i figure I’ll get once I receive the Kindle itself, and see if its still there. If not, ill return everything.

thank you, Dan! followed your suggested route to get Kindle HD7, but used my Amazon credit card and got extra $30 off, bringing the effective price of the device to $64.99 (w/tax) and gift card of $49.31.
It seems they’ve upped the prices? When I clicked on the promotion link, I got an offer for Kindle with special offers + kindle unlimited for $99, not $79. Went ahead with the order (total just over $100 with taxes) and redeemed the gift card for around $42, which means the kindle would cost around $60. Not so amazing. I cancelled the order.

I never got the Unlimited email. After the Kindle shipped, I just cancelled the order for the unlimited since it was broken into two separate orders. So far it looks like I got the Kindle for $38.
Is the Kindle Unlimited part still working?
