I still don’t see any use for this
I use it to turn on my AC when I’m not home, we have a salt water tank and if hot outside our house can get up to 85 and if the tank water fluctuates too much the fish will die. It also has the ability to setup. A schedule to turn on and off which is awesome when on vacation etc.

Not supposed to work with the app only with an echo device, so if it’s working for some through the app it’s a glitch. Wondering if it’s working for those with an echo device in the app too
