At any rate Amazon has most of the 1100 series priced at $222 shipped/no tax.

Seems to me that the report on Amazon that the lens extender mechanism breaks and is a $100 repair unless you are persuasive, if you have it in your pocket and the power button is pressed accidentally, is a deal-breaker.
