Chicco makes the best infant carseat and convertible carseat out there. They are fantastic products with top-notch safety and usability ratings. After using a competing product and switching to them you’ll realize why Consumer Reports ranks them as the best and why the KeyFit 30 is the only infant carseat they rated as āExcellentā in their overall ratings:
Curently you can save 25% off Chicco from Amazon but on select colors you can save up to 37%!

Can i find booster seats on sale?
STILL A GREAT DEAL!
@Booky:
Gotta wait until Rafi gets older and I know what to recommend and look for deals on š
Dan, what makes this a better car seat than the Graco?
@newcomer:
Latches easier, buckles easier, and lots of other reasons.
I added the CR ratings to the post.
Dan –
Can you update CR rating for convertibles? Toda
Thanks dan
@dan what if i bought it already and want to return the one i bought and buy this one so i can get it for cheaper, how long will it take for the amazon gift card to show back up on my account?
Back to $189, shucks
Dan,
Can you put up the Consumer Report ratings for the convertible seats? I purchased the -The Chicco NextFit convertible carseat and Britax Marathon 70-G3. Any recommendations between the 2?
@cleveland to detroit:
I asked a car seat tech she said:
but no the Britax models aren’t better, IMO they suck because they have such short shells. Since rear facing is 500% safer than forward facing, the longer you can RF the better. Britax gets some kids to age 2.5, pooooosibly 3, but the leg room is almost none (not a safety issue but a comfort one). Even if you don’t rear face to age 3-4, you’ll need and then forward face, you’ll need another car seat when they outgrow the Britax froward but are too young for a booster. Get a seat with more longevity and use it to booster age.
@cleveland to detroit:
Chicco has more rear facing legroom and seems more comfortable. Easy to latch too.
The NextFit came out only recently and isn’t yet reviewed by CR.
Dan this has nothing to do with post but do you know a way I can cancel a Delta and a Southwest flight without a charge?
@Dan and @Dani – nonononono. Consumer Reports are NOT for car seats. There are NO SAFETY RATINGS FOR CAR SEATS (boosters yes, car seats, no). Read that again, no.safety.ratings.for.car.seats. It takes a few mins of wrapping your head around that one because we’ve been lead to believe there is. Its actually a pass/fail system. The $39 all the way to the $499 seat are subjected to the same testing and all we know is pass or fail. No safety ratings or marks. There are ‘ease of install’ lists (which are heavily skewed based on the installer’s previous car seat knowledge). Consumer Reports is known to make mistakes in their car seat testing and have only recently hired certified car seat technicians to try and do things the correct way (they were installing seats wrong when testing, then going on smear campaigns against perfectly fine seats/companies; which they later had to rescind when techs found out they weren’t testing correctly. Rule of thumb: CR is great for washing machines and cameras, not so much for car seats.
@bethL- Hi š I see my answer chopped out some words since I was running on zero sleep yesterday, but you got the gist.
@Nav:
Never said anything about safety except that the LATCH is better on the Chicco.
I’ve had both the Graco Snugride and the Chicco, there’s no comparison at all.
Their conclusions looks spot on to me.
@Dan- You write: “They are fantastic products with top-notch safety..”
Usability is one thing, safety is another (which no one can test for really). I agree Chicco seats are easier to use so the chances of them being installed correctly are better. But in the 4 yrs of me being in the car seat world and 2+ of me being a certified tech, NOT ONE I’ve checked has been installed properly (mine wasn’t initially 5 yrs ago and I was a fanatic). That’s utterly crazy. The misuse rate is across the board. I can guarantee that of all the people reading this thread, maybe 1 has it in properly. Maybe.
Also, you were comparing an infant seat to a convertible, no? Compare the Nextfit to Graco’s comparable seat- the Head Wise.
Also, please don’t use CR for car seat ratings. It’s misleading. I was mislead too till I fell down the rabbit hole of car seats and now know better.
