Obviously it depends on how many AMEX cards you have and if you have other uses for that money.

This model mixer and stainless steel challa bowl attachments are sold for about $485-$499 in retail stores in the jesish tri state area retail stores.
While $299 here is a good deal I’m not sure how much a stainless steel challa bowl costs retail. On amazon it ranges from $139-$169.

So do the math before you think you are getting (or lost) a great deal..

Just wanted to let you know that this is the exact model that the Brooklyn stores sell. Also I know people say that you should make the challah in the stainless steel bowl as opposed to the white plastic bowl but Ive been baking challah for years in the white bowl, as well as all of my friends. I honestly dont know what the stainless steel bowl does differently-probably just a marketing strategy for them to make more $.
I got 2 of these Bosch machines at $299 (actually $200 with the amex promotion) and an hour later it went up to $349. Just goes to show you how quickly Amazon changes their prices.

@yehudis: you’re totally wrong using the new Bosch mixer`s plastic bowl to make five pounds of flour challah dough,and not the metal bowl will break the mixer very fast, this happened to me and to my Friends, buyer be aware,according to the company that repairs the mixers for Bosch its not recommended to make more than 2 1/2- 3 pounds of flour in the plastic bowl at a time, if you want to make five pounds at time you must use the metal bowl otherwise the mixer breaks,people don’t know this,they find out the hard way, but this is the fact

I have been making 5lbs in the white bowl for years. All my friends also make challah (5lbs) in the white bowl and I have never heard one instance of it breaking. That is completely incorrect.

@yehudis: you probably have the old bosch mixer,witch doesn’t break so fast, not the new one that was on sale, and you are probably making a very light dough,according to the local heimeshe company in nj that repairs the mixers making a heavy 5lb challah dough with the new bosch mixer in the plastic bowl and not the metal bowl will break the mixer very fast,they told me they have people coming in every other day with this problem,they buy the mixer online and they don’t know about using the metal bowl for challah dough and then the mixer breaks after using it only a few times

I found a place that you can buy the the stainless steel bosch 6.5 bowel for 79.99 shipped.
Now it does not come with a cover and splash ring but I called bosch -1800 my bosch- and they said the the cover and splash ring that the mixer comes with for the plastic bowel will work for the metal one as well.
If you look around the price is like 139 and up bec it is with the cover and splash ring.

BTW I asked them about making heavy dough (challah) in the plastic bowel and they said it is fine and the reason for the metal bowel is if you want to use it foe hot stuff etc..

No, I have the exact same model as the one on sale and have never had a problem, same with all my friends, they all have the white bowl only. Also read what Jack wrote above.
