Chatted with Amazon about this, as I was on the regular $99 price – literally twenty seconds later, they issued me a $26 credit, showing how incredible it is to work with Amazon.

I chatted with one person who said cant help. tried again and this time they cancelled my recently subscribed membership for full refund and then i was able to sign up again. Thank you Dan.

What does it mean to “share prime benefits with a friend?” The extra months you would be paying would be more then the $26.

I chatted with them and the first time they said they could not and would send some paperwork to marketing. Chatted again this morning and again said the same thing and I said so you mean I should cancel and get pro-rated and then my wife should sign up? He then said after looking into it he could refund me even though it’s not policy.

I called cuz I didn’t see option to chat and didn’t have patience to find it so I called. Mine renewed on the 12th and they issued me a credit. Thanks for the idea.

I called and asked if I can renew my prime now for another year and get this promotion. The customer service rep told me that since my renewal is in April he can’t do it now, but he noted my account that I will get this refund on my renewal in April and he sent me an email confirming this and asked me to refer back to it in case there are any problems then.

I tried the chat. They refused to credit the $26 to my account. Said it’s only available to first time members. I’ve been a Prime member for 9 years.

Just called , they said refund issued (i just renewed a few days ago )

They refused to credit anything. but offered to cancel and re-add it. I refused because it will loose the sharing option..

Chatted but had renewed in September so credit request was rejected. Asked for 2 month prime membership extension and was granted 1. Works for me.

Update: after explaining my problem to cancel and reorder, and asking again the same Representative for a refund, she agreed to apply as a one time exception a 26 dollars credit on next order sold and shipped by amazon.

@DH I still have the old option to share my benefits with 3 other people. that option is no longer available today. The rep confirmed that I’ll be loosing that option if I cancel now.

As of now you can share Amazon prime free shipping with 5 people. If you let your account expire and use this discount you can only share with one other person.

It worked better than expected!:
Chatted with customer service. They issued a $26 refund on the spot. Took 2 seconds.
Then the rep tells me she made a mistake and canceled my Prime subscription (I still had 6 months to go on it), so she ask me to renew at $73 and give me a full refund of the $73.
In summary: I just got an extra 6 months added to my Prime membership for free!

Yes, no problem at all for an adjustment.

no luck getting the refund for the prime via chat- spent an hour and have a funny transcript but they weren’t budging.

the best they would do is have me cancel current on a pro rated basis ( I just renewed in late December)calculated by deducting 4 dollars for each of 4 orders since renewal and refunding me about90 dollars and having me sign up at 73.

I just chatted with rep, who said that as an exception they will give me the refund. My prime renewed in November. They are refunding the difference to my CC.

No refund for me. According to rep, every time you use 2-day shipping or prime video, you’re refund should you choose to cancel gets diminished.

Only those who still have residual value to their prime subscription are getting the refund.

First they told me to cancel my prime but i told them i don’t like screwing the system so the did give me the $26 credit even though i started my prime in November.

Just chatted with Amazon my subscription has renewed in December this the response I got “Amazon: Moshe, I’m really sorry for the inconvenience, however the information on the website stands for “New customers” so they can become Prime members too, We already have specific orders for this, I apologize for the inconvenience this will cause you, this promotion does not allow us to do price adjustments for already Prime Members” I asked to close my account and they refunded the full 99. Opened up again with the link and paid $73

On other note if I chose a credit card as payment I was charged tax, then I changed it to Gift card balance and the tax disappeared. Can anyone explain this?

was offered a refund of $26 right away, but said he couldn’t refund the sales tax.

I tried and all the rep could do for me was extend my membership by one month since my membership is going till August 2016.

Just contacted Amazon via email, was told I would be refunded 34.90 within 2-3 business days!
