I became quite addicted to the stuff during the year I spent in Sao Paulo when I launched this site in 2004. It used to be quite hard to find in the US, but now it’s imported to the US and sold on Amazon. Rabanut, and possibly another hechsher as well, I can’t remember.
I’ve seen it in israel with triangle k & ishur of the rabbanut. Wanted to buy it as I remembered you had mentioned it before but I don’t eat triangle k… if you can confirm this is approved by rabbis other than triangle k that may change the equation.
It is approved by mainstream Rabbis in Brazil and is served by every shul and kosher restaurant there.

Just a note of caution – the one that is imported to Israel is made in Europe, I believe Portugal. That one is not on the recommended list from Rav Ilovits. He only recommends the only made in Brazil. Perhaps it is worth putting that in the post. That being said, is there any way to know if this is the Brazilian version or the Portuguese one??
This is the Brazilian version.
Outside of Israel and the United States most general groceries don’t have hechshers stamped or printed on them. People go by ingredients. If the rabbis of the country approve of it, it’s good to go. Welcome to the real world.

Are the ingredients in the export version the same as in the local one? For example, by Irn Bru, which is approved by klbd, there is one ingredient which is different between the UK and us versions because of food regulations. Not sure if that affects the kashrus, but could make a difference. I once ordered guarana Antarctica from a website that I thought was sending me the local version, and they wound up sending me the export version anyway.
I asked the shliach in Manaus previously and he told me they’re the same.
I drank it once and I really liked it however I’m unsure about the sugar level?

Finally tasted it. In fact I brought it into my office and shared it with everyone. I was told that they sell this as an energy drink in New Zealand. The Guarana berry allegedly has twice as much caffeine as a coffee bean. Great stuff!
