They were strict with me on a previous such promo where I signed up for a new account under my name while another family member at the same address had an active membership–they denied me the bonus because of this.
To be a new member your membership (or membership as part of someone else’s household/address) has to have expired at least 18 months ago.
Can you buy this as a gift for someone else using your own email and log in on Groupon?

Can the household member be someone who’s had Costco membership in the past? The primary member would be someone who never had membership before.

I’ve been a Costco member for several years, so I’d be ineligible for this deal. I’d like to point out that I jumped on the BJs $20 annual membership earlier this year, with no intent on continuing. It’s a night a day difference between BJs and Costco (Costco’s products are considerably more affordable, the produce is fresher, and the kosher selection is larger). It shouldn’t be that Walmart or Aldi’s is cheaper on produce, eggs, and creamers than BJs.
