Price of gold fluctuates obviously. Today 2685. Do this for the 2% back plus points and then hope gold goes up. Good way to meet a spend threshold too.

Better buy. Venmo cc gets you 3% as Grocery (Doubled for first 6 months) or Citi Double Cash gets you better than 2% CB
Is this right that the 100 gram is a better buy? It comes out to a bit cheaper but not sure about value.
It’s cheaper on the price of gold by about $10 but it’s a bigger bar so you have to invest a lot more to buy it.

I would do this for spending requirements only. The price of gold is at all time high, but it also tends to decrease by hundreds for relatively long periods (e.g., 2011 – 2018). I purchased some 1 oz. coins in 2021 for $2,375; the “profit” is pretty close with regular 3-4% savings. So, be ready to keep these coins for a very long time.
