Update: This offer ends tomorrow!

IHG normally sells points directly for 1.15 cents each. And you can transfer points from Chase, but that’s a criminal use of Chase points. Of course there’s a hack to buy their points at .7 cents each, though that hack requires that you have points to start with.
They currently have a promotion to get a bonus when you buy points.
There’s a DDF thread on the promotion and people are reporting 0%, 25%, 50%, 75, and a 100% bonus when buying points.
Login to your account via the point purchase link above to see what offer is on your account.
My account has a 100% bonus offer:
In other words I can buy 60K points plus a 60K bonus for $690. That’s just 0.575 cents per point for 120K points..
If you have a 75% bonus you would be able to get 105K points for $690 or 0.657 cents per point, also a good deal.
This promotion expires on 12/23.
IHG points never expire.
IHG runs PointBreaks which allows you to book rooms at rotating hotels for just 5,000 points per night. That’s just $28.75 for a room if you can buy points at .575 cents each. Those hotels rotate every couple of months and a new list will be out very shortly.
There are also good values to be had at high-end properties. The highest tier is 50K points.
-Intercontinental has a heavy presence in French Polynesia with properties on Tahiti and Moorea islands for just 40K points ($230 at .575).
-An overwater bungalow in Bora Bora at the Intercontinental Thalasso can go for as much as $1,000 with tax but costs just 50K points. That’s just $287.50 at .575 cents per point.
-Bargains can be had for high end Intercontinental hotels in NYC, Hong Kong, Paris, London, etc. thanks to the 50K redemption level.
-There are lots of IHG hotels in Israel including Ashkelon (10K), Dead Sea (30K), Eilat (30K), Haifa (30K), Jerusalem (20K), and Tel Aviv (30K).
So what’s your bonus? And will you be a buyer at that rate?

I got 75%
But I bought with the previous promotion at the same net price per point, and haven’t used them yet. Are these transferable? What would they go for per point on the “open” market a/k/a broker?
big fat 0
Is there any way to sell Chase Ultimate Rewards points from my Chase Freedom card? I’m having a hard time selling them

I got 0!
I have no plans right now to travel and even with 100% bonus, I’d prefer to buy using hack as needed.
I’ll survive with my $35 rooms!
I would sing a different tune if I was planning a hotel stay in a nice place now.
25% Should I bother?
@Me: You need a Sapphire Preferred or Ink business card to transfer UR points out to Frequent Flyer accounts.
If these are transferable, I’m more than willing to share 🙂
@chana k: Thanx! That explains it.
Dan
I dont belong to IHG now
How do i sighn up?
25% for me, 0% for my wife. Oh well.
Got 75%. I actually forgot about the email offer and this was a great reminder. Thanks Dan!!
i got 0%.
do you think its worth to buy points now so i could take advantage of the next IHG Pointsbreak booking?
What’s the best cc to use
75% – Dan, you buying at your 100%?
I got 100%. I have Platinum status with IHG (due to the credit card). Dan do you recommend keeping this credit card after the first year. It seems like a good deal since the annual fee is only $49 and it gives you 1 free night at any IHG property and also give you Platinum status which gives you upgrades based on availability. When I was at the Crowne Plazaa Beverly Hills (on my $59 Delta first class ticket) they gave me lounge access on the club floor.
Can I use my free night for the year (from having the credit card and being platinum) on that bora bora bungaloW? That would be so sweet even if it’s only for 1 night. Obviously would have to find a great deal on flights to get there.
Got the 100% on one of the accts I have, and bought the 60k+60k. Thanks.
@Dan’s the Man:
Is there a question here?
():-)
“0” Bonus!!!!!!
Platinum, 97K & no bonus…so what’s the common denominator?
Dan I’m still not sure why you don’t believe to have this card in your repertoire for u and your wife. 80k signup plus free night anniversary and automatic platinum status for only $49. It’s just another nice bonus in the arsenal. Enlighten me dan😀
If you use your IHG Rewards credit card does this count as IHG spend and therefore qualify for 5X points?
@kachnik: I wrote “Dan do you recommend keeping this credit card after the first year”
That sounds like a question to me.
zilch!
only received 25– did not buy
Got the 100% bonus
Thanks
@Izzy:
Nice!
I got a lousy 25%! Maybe next time!
