Update: The Venetian and The Palazzo are now bookable through Hyatt.

As expected, redemption values are terrible. For example, the base suite at the Venetian on 2/18 costs $346.04 or 34,750 points, a value of less than 1 cent per point.

When staying at either hotel, you will earn:

  • “5 Base Points per eligible $1 USD spent on rooms and resort fees and at 20+ participating restaurants and bars, select retail locations at The Venetian and The Palazzo when charged to your room (alcohol, taxes and other exclusions apply)
  • 4 Bonus Points per eligible $1 USD for World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers on eligible spend when charged to your room
  • Standard tier Bonus Points for elite tier members on eligible room rates and resort fees and eligible spend at participating restaurants and bars, and select retail locations at The Venetian and The Palazzo when charged to your room
  • Credit toward earning tier status and Milestone Rewards
  • On-property benefits for elite members from The Venetian Resort, like Invited Guest check-in; late checkout and early check-in (pending availability), suite upgrades (pending availability); and discounts on gondola rides and select retail locations.”

Unfortunately, elite benefits don’t apply here, so there are no waived resort fees, waived parking fees, free breakfast, bottles water, club access, or other benefits.

The Venetian and Palazzo Las Vegas are switching from IHG to Hyatt.

The long-term agreement will allow Hyatt members to earn and burn points at the hotels, earn credit for the brand explorer award, and receive elite benefits.

Elite Venetian Rewards members will also receive benefits when staying at Hyatt.

Similar to Mr and Mrs Smith, I wouldn’t expect award bargains with this partnership, but it should be valuable for earning points and elite stay credits.

I stayed at the Rio for a night earlier this year in Las Vegas when that hotel joined Hyatt. It wasn’t worth using points, but it was great just for the Globalist waiver of the resort fee, which dropped the cost of the room from $84 to $38 after tax, which is also a bargain for a Hyatt elite night credit. They also provided a Hyatt Globalist upgrade to their renovated tower, though nothing was kosher at their Globalist breakfast.

Adding the Venetian and Palazzo will add some upscale options for Hyatt on the Las Vegas Strip.

Will this switch change where you stay in Las Vegas?

They were horrible with IHG. You couldn’t get stays on decent points. It was better to pay in cash. You didn’t even get any ihg benefits.

These hotels are a bit dated imo, and pale in comparison to some of the newer and more renovated properties on the strip

what does that mean earn credit for the brand explorer reward?

If you’re a New York resident, there’s a straightforward way to get resort fees waived at Las Vegas hotels—and possibly others. Last year, I stayed at the MGM and was charged a $45 per night resort fee. Upon returning home, I wrote a letter to Letitia James, the New York Attorney General, explaining that I was charged a resort fee without receiving any meaningful services in return, aside from internet access that I didn’t even need. Additionally, I pointed out that there was no option to opt out of the fee.

The Attorney General’s office contacted MGM on my behalf, and as a result, my resort fee was refunded.

When does this go into effect?

Hyatt

Wow. What a disappointment): like the Mr and Mrs Smith. Nothing meaningful for hyatt loyalists

Not impressed with recent Hyatt moves

Such disappointment.

So no elite benefits, crazy amount of points for a stay, so why even mention it.

If the points redemptions are bad it’s better to book with Amex Platinum FHR, you will get the 100$ restaurant credits , free breakfast for two, plus the Hyatt points for the stay. Of Couse you will have to pay the resort fee which is kind of hard to avoid these days.
