Transfer Citi ThankYou Points To Qantas And Get A 25% Bonus!

You can get 1,250 Qantas Points for every 1,000 Citi ThankYou points that you transfer by 4/13.

As you can see from this miles expiration post, Qantas points won’t expire as long as you earn or redeem 1 mile every 18 months.

Qantas points are great for redeeming award travel on El Al. I’ll make another post comparing the points that will be required to travel to Israel with this offer.

Just fear elal bumping QF tickets…..

Why? Has this been reported to have happened?

if your going from la to tlv star alliance partners are better because they charge the same amount east or west coast. econ/business, as opposed on quantas charges alot more from the west coast then from the east coast? can you take a long stopover when booking united or lufthasa on mileage plus in nyc and then make your way to la 2 weeks later on a tlv to la or europe to la award ticket?

United

waist of time. If you fly to TLV direct from LAX, it’s only 14 hours. Why would you want to stop and add a few hours flying time. Using Qantas points, it’s only 84k for ElAl in premium economy. No one else flies direct from LA.

62500 business class to Israel….. not bad

In order to transfer points the first names of the Citicard and the QF Account need to match, or it’s sufficient the family names match?

United

you can transfer TYP instantly to anyone. Limit 100k per year. The transferred points need to be used within 90 days of being transferred. If you transfer it to Qantas (or anywhere), that is considered using them. The points will only expire if they stay in your TY account

United

Qantas allows transferring points to an “eligible family member” (spouse, sibling, cousin, etc). It says that the points transfer instantly and you can transfer up to 600k annually. (min 5k per transfer)

Are there any other cards other than Citi TYP that tfr to Qantas? Neither MR or UR transfer. Also, are TYP strictly on consumer cards or is there a Biz card that has them that I’m having trouble finding?

Very surprised to learn that a CitiBusiness card exists with ThankYou points.

Got above link during a Live Chat giving them a heads up about significantly increased spending this month on personal card. (Need large charges to go through and not be flagged for fraud). Can’t even find it anywhere on Citi’s site. Seems to be zero marketing or bonus points for this card, which is a shame. Even has 3x points on quarterly rotating categories. When I told rep I can’t find an Apply Now button, was told to call 800-950-5114. Haven’t applied yet, but justed wanted to share for those that may be interested. Especially those that want to actually fly Qantas vs. ElAl.

United

Thanx for that.
Called them and they said that this card does not earn double points for spending on entertainment

Are J award redemptions with elal hard to come by?

Nate

Can anyone tell me what fees and taxes are like for redeeming Qantas Miles for AA domestic flights? There are some routes (under 600 miles with a stopover) where the 8000 Qantas rate is more appealing than BA. However, I don’t want to transfer miles before I know if this is a good way to book.

United

Qantas has a promotion now for the next 2 weeks to get bonus points for transferring credit card points into Qantas.
Transfers up to 500k get a 15% bonus
500k – 2mil get 25% bonus
2mil+ get 40% bonus
So if you transfer 1.6mil typ points, with the ty bonus it comes to 2 mil, and with the Qantas bonus, it comes out to 2.8mil Qantas points.
