If you received the targeted email (Subject: Up to 40% bonus Qantas Points if you transfer now) you can get 15% bonus points on transfers up to 500K miles, 25% bonus points on transfers between 500,001-1,999,999 miles, and 40% bonus points on transfers of 2MM+ miles between 4/1-4/14.

Citi ThankYou points transfer to Qantas at a 1:1 ratio, Barclay Arrival Premier points transfer to Qantas at a 1.4:1 ratio, and Capital One points transfer to Qantas at a 2:1.5 ratio. Unfortunately, AMEX and Chase do not transfer to Qantas.
This will stack with the current 25% transfer bonus from Citi ThankYou points to Qantas.
In other words:
- If you transfer 100K Citi points you would get 125K Qantas points and if you are targeted for this offer you would get 18,750 bonus points, for a total of 143,750 Qantas miles (1.4375 Qantas miles per Citi point).
- If you transfer 401K Citi points you would get 501,125 Qantas points and if you are targeted for this offer you would get 125,281 bonus points, for a total of 626,406 Qantas miles (1.562 Qantas miles per Citi point).
- If you transfer 1.6MM Citi points you would get 2MM Qantas points and if you are targeted for this offer you would get 800K bonus points, for a total of 2.8MM Qantas miles (1.75 Qantas miles per Citi point).
You can earn Citi points via credit cards like theĀ Citi PremierĀ® Card Card,Ā which is offering 50K points for spending $4K within 3 months. It also offers 3 points per dollar on travel and gas plus 2 points per dollar on dining and entertainment. Plus its annual fee is waived for the first year and $95/year afterward:
The Barclay Arrival Premier card is discontinued.
You can earn Capital One miles with cards like:
- TheĀ Capital OneĀ® SparkĀ® Miles for BusinessĀ is offering 50,000 miles for spending $4,500 in 3 months.
- The Capital OneĀ® VentureĀ® Rewards Credit CardĀ is offering 50,000 miles for spending $3,000 in 3 months.
You can also transfer Marriott points to Qantas at a 60K:25K ratio, but those don’t qualify for this promotion. You can earn 100K Marriott points with limited time offers from AMEX and from Chase.
Want to be targeted for a similar promotion in the future?
Qantas targets people who have previously made mileage transfers from credit cards to Qantas for transfer bonuses about 4 times per year. The January 2019 version of this promotion had the same tiers, but the November 2018 version of this promo had a 45% bonus on the top-tier of 2MM+ points transferred. The August 2018 version offered a 20% bonus on all transfers, while the March and June 2018 versions of this promo offered 15% bonus points on transfers up to 350K miles, 25% bonus points on transfers between 350,001-1,249,999 miles, and 40% bonus points on transfers of 1.25MM+ miles.
Just transfer any number of points to Qantas now and you should find yourself targeted for future transfer promotions!
Qantas points are an excellent way to book award travel on El Al.
You need 78K Qantas miles for a one-way business class award ticket between NYC and Tel Aviv. Best of all, Qantas doesn’t charge fuel surcharges for travel on El Al.
If you max out the 25% Citi and the 40% Qantas bonuses you would effectively need just 44,600 Citi points for that business class award ticket!
Are you targeted for this offer? Will you transfer credit card points to Qantas today in order to get targeted in the future?

Thanks for the tip on how to get targeted.
Just curious, do you not recommend the Citi Prestige (gives 5x on travel)? You only mentioned the Premier in the article, while the Prestige also has a 50k sign up bonus.
Premier has a waived $95/year fee, Prestige has a $495/year fee. Certainly not worth having just for the extra 2X unless you’re spending mega bucks on travel or can take advantage of the other benefits.
Annual fee is $245 after the airline credit
Sounds like you should be able to calculate if it makes sense for you based on your annual airline and other bonused spend that you charge to your card.
Note that like on AMEX Platinum, airfare is 5x, not all travel.
Airfare and travel agency charges. Amex is only airline.
correct
I actually see it as a decent substitute to the Reserve. It has better categories, and a free 4th night twice annually. Has priority pass and Global entry and better travellers insurance than Chase.
Downside is the $95 higher fee and points aren’t hybrid.
But it’s definitely a competitive product. Again, for many the Reserve is better. Just surprised you never mention this option.
I have mentioned it from time to time.

It’s not even close to a mainstream card like the Sapphire Reserve:
-The effective annual fee is 63% higher.
-Points are worth a measly 1 cent each for paid travel versus 1.5 that is a signature CSR benefit.
-The travel category is not as broad as Sapphire.
-There is no Quinfecta strategy that allows you to earn between 1.5x-5x everywhere and then redeem those points at 1.5 cents each.
-The 4th night benefit has been neutered and means you can’t redeem points for the stay.
-Chase transfer partners are more valuable overall for US consumers and include an excellent hotel transfer option, which is unique among bank points.
I’m not saying it’s not valuable for some. It’s just a very niche product that won’t make sense for most people.
Proof is in the pudding, I have nearly every Chase card and have a Citi Premier but don’t have a Prestige.
the AF for the amex platinum is 350 after the statement credit
AMEX Plat also has $200 Uber credit, $100 Saks credit, Centurion lounge access, Marriott/Hilton Gold, lost item protection, and more useful benefits.
I definitely hear. But your pudding is no proof, cuz you don’t spend that much cash on airfare š
Disclaimer: I personally have all 3 (Reserve, Prestige and Amex Platinum) and I have no personal interest in one over the other. Was just wondering why it wasn’t mentioned along with the Premier as another option.
(Was also thinking you can maybe once make a post of a decent Amex quadfecta option [can be very helpful for those over 5/24])
Blue business plus is great Amex to have, 2x points on everything up to $50k a year
If u have the prestige and the premier, can u get 1.25 cents per point? (The premier gets 1.25)
You’ll probably have a separate account for the prestige. Although you can transfer for free, it’s limited to 100,000 per year. Anyway, from May 1, the prestige will only get 1 cent per point.
The answer is yes.
Would you transfer now preemptively for a future, currently unplanned travel on ELAL? I guess the only risk is that Qantas points are not redeemable in the future for ELAL
Near-term, sure.
Long-term, no.
2.8 m points is to much for 1 person
You can book for family.
i think qantas will close the acc
Family bookings are allowed in the program, even if the accountholder isn’t flying.
Any chance I can request the bonus if i transferred points right before the promo started? End of March.
Thanks for the HT, Dan!
I see that offer in my account Even I have not gotten the email
does amex only let you transfer in points once a year/
