You can now redeem Virgin Atlantic points for El Al flights.

Award rates aren’t cheap, though with Alaska’s partnership with El Al going away at the end of July, it’s always good to have more options.

Virgin also often has 30% mileage transfer bonuses, which will help take some of the edge off these rates!

Virgin Gold elites will get an extra checked suitcase, priority security, check-in, baggage, and boarding, and lounge access.

You can also earn Virgin points on El Al paid flights as follows:

On the search page you can select one-way or round-trip, exact dates, flexible within 1 week, or within 5 weeks by changing the word “dates” in the URL to “calendar” on the award calendar search results page. joel

with 30 % transfer bonus they often have. it is not a terrible deal, considering alaska partnership is ending, delta baically require round trip, qantas blocks most availbility, etihad charge more…

using the same math 65k for premium is decent. 115k business not quite

Dani

Attempting to searching available reward flights from jfk-tlv and nothing is coming up. What am I doing wrong?

Itzik

same here.

yitzchok

maybe your trying round trip.
seems like you have to search one way.

Emgee

Is this equivalent to the Alaska/etihad availability or Qantas ?

CK

Same availability as Alaska/Delta

medstudentgnd

i purchased KLM award flights for virgin atlantic metal with connection the flight between went from 2 hours to 7 hours, KLM customer services terrible, any ideas?

Yh

If I’m flying Elal and continuing with virgin Atlantic do I get points with Elal ? Virgin? Or both?

David

I booked this type of connection through delta award, on El Al I earned diamond’s + points and on virgin only tier points.

BG

Wow. Disappointing redemption options. For biz, that’s a minimum equivalent of $4,500 in cash based on 1.5 cents/point when transferring to Virgin (disregarding the frequent transfer bonuses). Maybe a decent deal for JFK-LHR, where taxes on Virgin metal are very high, but that’s ALOT of points each way.

Shmuli

Will this work with companion offer ?

ELI

I have the same question. I guess there is only one way to find out… Whoever books first should let everyone else know.

darth

Isnt that just for Virgin metal?

Chaim

No companion offer is only on virgin metal

Chaim

Any DP whether they have availability like Alaska and Etihad?

CK

Same availability as Alaska/Delta

Dani

Can one fly TLV-LHR-JFK and earn matmid points?

Schneur

Idk any decent redemption I’ve ever seen with Virgin points always had a million dollars in fees

Chaim

fees are very low on partner flights (except AF/ klm) ie. delta Ita ANA etc.

GUWonder

I have used VS for cheap US-departing DL long-haul flights. Things like 30k VS points + $5.60 or so for the very same DL flights where DL wanted over 100k DL miles + $5.60 or so.

sm

are all the 30% bonuses over?

Chaim

Are the cheaper award options for El Al elsewhere?

JR

Lax :/

yitzchok

im finding plenty of availability

Judy

Doesn’t seem the 30% chase transfer bonus is still available. Expired on 6/14. This post was written 6/19. Am I missing some info? Do these bonus transfers happen frequently?

AAA

Any idea when we will be able to book ELAL with flying blue points. and how many points will it cost nyc-tlv?

Erez

This is a huge inflation over the Alaska rates, but much easier to get Virgin points than Alaska. May this be our only problems in life.

Shia

Where can I search which dates are available business on Alaska?

Sam

If I book elal Business class on Alaska how do I/Can i add a lap infant?

Know nothing

Good luck!!! They’ll keep blaming it on each other!!! Speaking from experience

Shia

Which points can be transferred to Alaskan?

rena

I booked a El al reward flight on Alaska for January How can I change the date

Yanky

Will the ticket expire? or Alaska will stop to sell Elal Flights?

JZ

I just booked a round trip on elal from tlv to jfk through delta for 2 weeks in july for 108,000 delta points which is more then the 86000 (after the 30% bonus of course) that it would cost through virgin so it doesnt seem like such a bad deal

Ly18

make that 96k with the transfer bonus

Sam

@dan, @jj
