Half Price LifeMiles Through 12/30
-This offer only applies for accounts opened before 12/03. It does return several times per year so it’s worth opening an account with them for next time if you don’t have one yet.
-You can buy up to 150,000 miles at 1.5 cents per mile. By entering that you want to buy 75,000 miles you will be credited with 150,000 miles, the maximum allowed. The cost for 150K would be $2,250.
-Purchase on a card like Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card® Card so that you don’t pay a foreign transaction fee and in order to get the 2.14 points per dollar on travel spending.
-LifeMiles is the Star Alliance program run by Avianca/TACA. Miles don’t expire as long as there is activity every 24 months. You can book partner travel online and one-way awards are allowed at half the rate of round-trip awards.
-They have a good award chart and don’t charge any fuel surcharges. With United raising awards and USAirways leaving the Star Alliance sometime around 03/14 this program looks even better than before.
-Beware that their call center customer service is notoriously poor.
-If you are one of the 1,250+ people who have been to one of the 5 DD seminars I’ve run to date you’ll (hopefully!) already have an account and know some pretty cool stuff to do with it…and that’s all I’m going to say on the matter 😉

Dan stop making ppl feel bad
My next vacation is to Dan’s seminar where would that be
Dan – when is your next seminar in the NYC area?
Where can I get the seminar DVD?
I was at the first seminar in crown heights, and I know nothing of all of these “seminar” ideas you throw around…
Perhaps you can write a post explaining this program…
was at the DD seminar and active on DDF yet dont remember you mentioning anything about this…
@Lm:
Wasn’t my intention.
@garbage truck:
Good question.
@PBaruch:
Another good question!
@Eli:
Took a look at the slides and I stand corrected.
Started talking about this in DDS #2 and expanded more in DDS #5.
DDS #1 had 40 slides.
DDS #5 is up to 128 slides!
@stephen:
Which seminar?
LifeMiles requires a license or passport number to register for an account. Any way around this? Do you trust them?
was at seminar in cle and know what your talking about though it was a bit hard to follow but i understand there is only limited time you can spend on each slide
@Aerial Dag:
The passport field is optional.
@yk:
Tough to cram 128 slides into a couple hours.
But how many people can commit to what can easily be an 8 week course?
I did stay after the seminar to answer every single question.
@Dan: and thank you very much for that you were extremely patient was not meant to be a complaint at all but i an sure many would take the course if offered but dont do it in cle you are ruining all the good cvs’s
@Dan: Thanks for that. The mouseover text said it was required but you’re right, it was optional.
Well you didn’t answer every question….. Some fuel dumping and other questions were politely ignored 🙁
@yk:
Lol.
I’ve actually seen a lot of VRs even in the local CVS’ of late.
One of the nearby stores hides their gift card rack in a corner and had hundreds!
@Aerial Dag:
No prob.
@Shmebeble:
I included a slide on fuel dumping in action and talked about it during DDS #5/CLE.
But there’s only so much I can say on ultra-sensitive topics without being stoned.
Dan, you got to give a webinar for shluchim and others who live out in the boondocks at can’t attend the seminars. Any chance of that? Thanks for all your help in providing such a wonderful service to so many thousands of us across the world 🙂
weird I don’t remember anything about lifemiles in dds cle
@A shliach:
Nope, sorry.
Would’ve been happy to do one at the Kinus free of charge if I was asked.
@don:
Slides 88-91 covered it.
Dan, how do u create a price mistake so that i can fly for free from nyc to israel and then to australia through thiland? Its not fair, i went on dansdeals at least twice and didint find it. I didint go to the seminar cuz thats obviausly a huge scam to make u millions. Dan stop being so selfish! Dan i need u to book me a ticket on your points and host me for shabbos and explain evrything! Dan your emails broken! I sent you over 10 with orders to call me but you didint get them.
Any way to download the seminar powerpoint so we could see what we missed?
@Shimino1 – I just about spit out my soda. Hilarious!
@Shimino1, please don’t be aggressive! Dan doesn’t owe you anything! Do not email, and PLEASE don’t demand that he do ANYTHING. I help peoe out where I live as well, and I know how it feels to have someone like you bug me.
@Concerned fan:
I really hope this was sarcasm… but I don’t think CF understands the concept :/ Shimino1 was hilarious…
@Shimino1,
lol!
and may I add that it’s HIS fault that I’m going to israel and my wife is mad at me?
BAck to the point: lifemiles can be very useful but understand that they have terrible customer service, dont allow mixed cabin awards, and HAS BEEN KNOWN TO DEVALUE THEIR AWARD CHART WITH NO NOTICE! I repeat, you can get amazing value on certain redemptions.
1- When will be next Seminar in NY/NJ/PA, or @ a location that’s possible to come from NY by via air or car, (not on a Saturday night).
2- r slides printouts available for attendees of the seminar,(as Dan is mentioning slide # for reference).
i agree is there going to be another seminar in nj.ny
darn it Dan. I hope you didn’t discuss getting from TLV-US for under 15k LM, at the seminar….
huh? creditor is that a possibility? please explain
please tell me from which credit card exactly – amex starwood or regular or chase ? can I transfer points into the lifemiles avanca program ? thanks
