Get 20% Bonus Points When You Transfer Citi Points Into Avios
You can get a 20% bonus for transfers from Citi to Qatar Avios. With this bonus, 1,000 Citi ThankYou points transfer into 1,200 Avios. This promotion runs through 3/15 at 11:59pm ET.
In general, you shouldn’t transfer miles unless you have short-term plans to redeem them for flights.
It can be tricky to book Qatar awards, so read this post first to learn all about Qatar Avios.
You can also transfer Qatar Avios to BA, Finnair, Iberia, or Aer Lingus Avios. You can combine Avios via this link via the BA site here or on the Qatar site here.
Avios aren’t what they used to be. British Airways seems to devalue them every few months, bringing them from first to worst in no time.
You can save with the Qatar award chart or the Finnair award chart, which is the only Avios program that doesn’t charge per leg flown, though both Qatar and Finnair recently devalued their Avios.
You can search for award availability using BA Avios here. Finnair or Qatar should be able to book any award space that you find using BA Avios for fewer Avios, but you may need to call them or chat to book.
Here are some highlights:
- A short-haul Qantas award like Melbourne-Sydney can be booked for 6K BA Avios (5K Citi Points).
- A short-haul JetBlue award like NYC-Fort Lauderdale can be booked for 8.5K Qatar Avios (~7K Citi Points).
- A short-haul AA award like NYC-Cleveland can be booked for 9.5K Qatar Avios (~7.9K Citi Points).
- A domestic Alaska coach award like NYC-LA can be booked for 11K Finnair Avios (~9.1K Citi Points).
- An Alaska coach award to Hawaii can be booked for 13.5K Finnair Avios (~11.2K Citi Points).
- An AA coach award to Hawaii can be booked for 15K Finnair Avios (~12.5K Citi Points).
- A domestic AA coach award like NYC-LA can be booked for 16K Qatar Avios (~13.3K Citi Points).
- A transatlantic JetBlue coach award like NYC-Amsterdam, London, or Paris can be booked for 25K Qatar Avios (~20.8K Citi Points).
- A mid-haul JetBlue MINT business class award like Fort Lauderdale-Phoenix can be booked for 26K Qatar Avios (~21.6K Citi Points) with excellent availability!
- An AA first class award to Hawaii can be booked for 38K Finnair Avios (~31.6K Citi Points).
- A domestic AA or Alaska first-class award like NYC-LA can be booked for 40K Finnair Avios (~33.3K Citi Points).
- A transcontinental JetBlue MINT business class award like NYC-LA can be booked for 74K Qatar Avios (61.6K Citi Points) with excellent availability!
- A transatlantic JetBlue MINT business class award like NYC-Amsterdam, London, or Paris can be booked for 78K Qatar Avios (65K Citi Points) with excellent availability!

Any way to book flights from NYC to TLV?
Why do you mention Fin air redemptions when talking about qatar avios?
Because Finnair miles il are also Avios, and can be freely transferred between BA and them. Same with Qatar etc.
what citi cards work to make a transfer?
Premier or prestige
if qatar makes any money from it please everyone refrain!!!
Can you please describe where to find these, I’m having trouble?

How do I find a flight from JFK to LAX with Finnair or BA? The search feature doesn’t work for domestic. And will the mileage rate really be better than if I book on with American or Alaska?
