Flying Blue is the joint program of SkyTeam member Air France and KLM. They consider Tel Aviv to be part of Europe which can make for some decent deals.
-Flying Blue charges fuel surcharges on their own flights but not on Delta flights. However availability is significantly better on their own flights than on Delta flights. When there is Delta availability though it’s significantly cheaper to book the Delta flights with Flying Blue miles than with Delta Skypesos.
-They normally charge 25K miles each way in coach and 62.5K miles each way in business class to Israel but they run rotating monthly promo awards throughout the year that are valid for select cities.
-Promo awards are only valid on Air France or KLM.
-Travel is valid in either direction and is valid for one-way or round-trip travel.
-You need to book the current promo awards by 11/30.
-Promo awards are nonrefundable and non-changeable.
-Promo awards require Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles. You can’t use Delta miles for these awards and you can’t transfer Delta miles to Flying Blue.
-With the current offer you can fly in January or February in either direction between Boston, Chicago, Houston, JFK, or San Francisco, and Israel, Europe, or Russia for 18,750 miles each way in coach.
-With the current offer you can fly in February in either direction between Detroit, or Washington DC, and Israel, Europe, or Russia for 18,750 miles each way in coach.
-You can fly in January or February in either direction between Calgary, Edmonton, or Montreal, or Vancouver and Israel, Europe, or Russia for 46,875 miles each way in business class.

Darn, I just got so excited when I thought that this was about JetBlue flying to Israel. Too bad!
@Mike B:
Lol, that’s not happening anytime in the near future.
Are there dates for Chanuka?
I don’t have an account:
Is it easy to transfer points from Amex, and once I transfer can I transfer back? And is this considered to be a huge deal or not?
Which account should I open Air france or flying blue?
What about business from JFK to Israel
Is this considered a huge deal or nothing major?

@Yankel
You can eat them in a tree
You can eat them in the sea
And please leave Dan alone now. He’ll be back around 11. And he won’t be available tomorrow night at this time also the way things are going.
Hi Dan,
1) How fast does Amex points go over to Fly Blue?
2) Also, Is there an easy way to see when it can be booked on a direct flight via Delta? E/T I see in the calendar is connection when I click on it. What tells me its a Delta direct flight?
Thanks,
@Dave: my friend flew them and Turkish told him the 3 luggages were a promo from tlv to USA. That’s all the info I have. double check.
I fly delta(or their partners) often. Is it better to use my skymiles number or to use a flying blue account?
@CollegeGirl:
yes it’s very easy to transfer to flying blue, just a call into your credit card services, with your flying blue account number ready (required to open this account), and it’s all done.
according to the flying blue website january flights are only for flying with stopovers in paris- i am hesitant as it is dangerous
you can fly through amsterdam in february.
Ok people, here is my dilemma, wish you could help a little.
Im in israel with CSR, 100k points. My brother is having first child early mid-Jan. If its a boy (we don’t know) i would like to get to states within 7 days (you know for what). so if i transfer points to flyingblue, would this rates be available like 7 days before January 15th? if not, are there any other ways to book a cheap flight with point 7 days before.?
Dan;How do I do this? I have an SPG AmEx Card. I’d like the 25K Points that you mentioned!
“-The Starwood Consumer AMEX and the Starwood Business AMEX awards 25K signup points with no fee for the first year. 20K Starpoints can transfer into 25K Flying Blue with the permanent 25% transfer bonus. Transfers can take a few days”
@Jeff: @dan, I just want to ping this, you often compare the big 3 programs of the US, but I’m curious about comparing Delta vs other skymiles partner programs. (and same for the other alliances) Is it always better to just have the US account, or is there a particular program in each alliance that may be better?
Anything for December? (A month from now)
Ok to transfer UR to spouse not same last name
Thank you
tickets non stop are 750-900 not worth it even with discount bc fuel charges will add around 150-200 a person.
how much would it be NYC to TLV in business/ first class?
If anyone knows how fast it’ takes to transfer Citi points to Flying Blue?
is that considered a good deal?? there is still fuel surcharges!!
@mendel:
Yes, 37K miles+$200 RT is a decent deal. Especially if you need to travel one-way for half that.
im having the hardest time booking this. im booking for two passengers that have a different name then the flying blue account and using one of the passengers credit card. Its not letting me finish the booking and the reps on the phone are frustratingly unhelpful. any advice please? would using the account holders cc help?
