Update: Alive again through 12/13!
Get A 100% Bonus When You Buy IHG Points
IHG normally sells points for 1 cent each, but with this sale if you buy 26K or more points, you’ll pay an effective 0.5 cents each after the bonus.
This offer expires 6/29 at 11:59pm ET!
You can buy up to 300,000 points at that rate, which would set you back some $1,500.
If you need more points you can buy more points from another account and transfer points between accounts enrolled in business rewards.
That is a much better deal than transferring points from Chase!
IHG brands run the gamut from ultra-luxurious Six Senses resorts to boutique Kimpton hotels and down to Holiday Inn Express.
IHG has a large portfolio of hotels, with several options in Bora Bora/Tahiti and several hotel options in Israel. They will also open the luxury Intercontinental Jerusalem…eventually.
Points rates are fully variable, so check hotel after-tax pricing and award rates to see if this will make sense for you to purchase. I have found that in many cases it will make sense to buy points, though I wouldn’t buy more than you need for the short-term as they’re always subject to devaluation.
You can currently save 15% off awards at new and newly renovated hotels and there are often award discounts for cardholders and elites.
If you have an IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card, IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, or IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card you can also get the 4th award night free on all stays!
Will you buy any points with this deal?

It is VERY hard not to get less than 0.6 in value post taxes when booking 4 night stays. Even harder when also getting 10 percent rebate on points usage from select CC . In fact I maintain diamond status PURELY using this method and come out ahead even with the 16 cents per dollar rebate (32 points per dollar) I would have gotten as a diamond member plus using IHG card. (Yes most of my ihg travel is in Asia where 40 usd per night or less post points rebate (i.e. 8800 points per night pre rebatecon 4 night stays is common using this method.
I meant not to get MORE than .6 cents.
Hilton also has a promo currently at 100% till July 23

@dan, Is there a solution for IHG rewards not available on friday when trying to book Fri-Sun? Tier Platinum Elite
I see that these points are valued at around .05 each, so if you get the 100% bonus, aren’t you just breaking even? What’s the big benefit of buying points valued at $.05 for $.05?
They can be worth more, depends on hotel, dates, promotions, if you have a credit card for redeem 3 get 1 free, etc.
Does buying points prevent old points from expiring? I have like 17,000 but don’t plan to use in the next month and they expire in February.
Yes
Will this stop your points frome expiring as well?
Yes
