Update: While transfers to most airlines are at the rate below, transfers to Southwest are at a 8,000:2,400 ratio. That will be very worthwhile if you’re going for the Southwest companion pass (which effectively doubles the value of your Southwest points) but otherwise won’t be a good deal.

Daily Getaway has Wyndham Points for sale at 1pm EST tomorrow.
You can get 1 airline mile for every 2.5 Wyndham points as follows (Login required for link to work):
-8,000 Wyndham points transfers into 3,200 miles with airlines like Air Berlin, Air Canada, American, Delta, Frontier, United, USAirways, and more.
-17,500 Wyndham points transfers into 7,000 miles with those airlines.
-30,000 Wyndham points transfers into 12,000 miles with those airlines.
The prices were significantly lower last year, but it can still be worthwhile this year.
You can buy one package per Wyndham account and credit card but you can transfer from a Wyndham account to anyone’s mileage account, the names do not have to match!.
-For example you can buy 75,000 points for $405 after the automatic 10% off AMEX discount.
75,000 points is enough for 5 of the 8K transfer and 2 of the 17.5K transfers.
That means you’ll be able to buy 30,000 miles for $405 or 1.35 cents per mile.
There are definitely much cheaper ways of buying miles via gift cards, but it’s not awful especially if you need to top off your account to have enough miles for an award. It would be like buying a one-way BusinessFirst ticket to Israel for $810.
-You can buy 60,000 points for $324 after the automatic 10% off AMEX discount.
60,000 points is enough for 2 of the 30K transfers.
That means you’ll be able to buy 24,000 miles for $315 or 1.35 cents per mile.
-You can buy 40,000 points for $216 after the automatic 10% off AMEX discount.
40,000 points is enough for 5 of the 8K transfers.
That means you’ll be able to buy 16,000 miles for $216 or 1.35 cents per mile.
-You can buy 32,000 points for $172.80 after the automatic 10% off AMEX discount.
32,000 points is enough for 4 of the 8K transfers.
That means you’ll be able to buy 12,800 miles for $172.80 or 1.35 cents per mile.

Hey Dan,
If I want to accrue Wyndham points for the sake of using as airline miles, what should i select when creating an account.
it asks: Choose to earn Wyndham Rewards points, airline miles or rail points: a) Wyndham Rewards Points OR b)Airline Miles/Rail Points.
So should I select option A then transfer the points I get to AA miles? Or should I select b) for the beginning?
@Shlomo:
Won’t matter but A is fine.
Dan, do these points count towards miles earned for Status on AA?
do they transfer instantly into airline miles?
Is there a limit to how many f these I can buy? And if there’s no limit can I transfer them all to united?
Is BA a transfer partner?
Do these points count towards WN CP?
@moshe rabin:
No.
@sharon:
No.
@Israel:

@BA?:
No.
@Yitz:

Can I transfer from multiple wyndahm accounts to 1 united account?
@Avi:
You can 😀
How long do transfers take?
@dan Can you give an example of something you can do with 75000 points?
Well I got my reply letter from “CHASE World Elite Business Business†credit card. (Yes it was written just that way 2x ‘Business’). Denied. The reason? “Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with usâ€. I did a 2BM – Chrome & Explorer. What did I do wrong? It works for other people! Is it me? It’s me, right? Seriously, what did I do wrong? and how long till the hard pull(s?) fall off the account?
@Dan: So is this the cheapest way of buying 50k+ points needed for WN CP?
@dan
Would it be possible if you could explain a bit further how I can use this deal to purchase a round trip business ticket to Israel for $1620, thanks.
