American Airlines offers the ability to earn 1 mile and 1 loyalty point per dollar spent on event tickets. They also allow you to redeem miles for tickets at 1 cent per mile.
Through 2/28, you can earn 2 miles and 2 loyalty points per dollar spent on event tickets, on up to 3 orders per member.
Alternatively, you will earn 500 loyalty points for every time you redeem any amount of miles for event tickets. There is no limit to how many orders you can make to earn 500 loyalty points.
- AAdvantage miles and/or Loyalty Points will be awarded to the account of the purchasing AAdvantage member within 30 days after the eligible transaction is posted.

Cheapest I found is $15.90 after fees which means you have to spend 1,590 redeemable miles to earn 500 Loyalty Points.
Could also use 1K miles+$5.90.
Would you get 500 loyalty points for that? Anyways, there are cheaper ways of generating loyalty points, especially if you don’t look at opportunity cost.
