In case you are living under a rock, there are massive bonuses when you apply for amex charge cards with dans link in the post and then after you get the card and spend the required money on the card just call up membership rewards at 800-axp-earn to get matched to a better offer.

And of course you can apply for 3 cards at once with 3 different browsers to get more cards at once.

Premier Rewards Gold, get 75,000 points after you spend $500 and call to match to offer code 5894.
Platinum consumer, get 100,000 points after you spend $1,000 and call to match to offer code 5748.
Business Gold, get 100,000 points after you spend $2,000 and call to match to offer code 6608.
Platinum business, get 100,000 points after you spend $5,000 and call to match to offer code 5999.

I thought Rewards Gold (code 5894) is $1,000 spend. Am I wrong?

Offer 5894 only requires $500 spending.

Can you apply online with the offer codes or only by phone?

So how does it work exactly? U just call up and tell them that u have this promo code and they automatically give u the extra miles?

You can’t apply for the card with the code. You need to apply online with the regular offers and then you just call them up with the code after you meet the spending requirement and they will give you the extra points instantly. Rocket science it’s not.

I would say Continental is better than Delta even with a 50% bonus.

Chase will keep transferring to Continental even after the United merger. Both Continental and United are under credit card contracts with Chase.

There are no bonuses to transfer to Continental and there hasn’t been a bonus in many years.
The reason is simple, Continental miles are worth much more than Delta miles so they need to always have a Delta bonus to just make them closer to an equal value…

John, I thought that the Premier Gold Bonus code promo for the 75,000 points expired on July 1st… Has it been extended?

John, i know i’m pretty new to this business, but please explain. Clicking on Dan’s link for the startwoods Premier Rewards Gold the offer for signing up is a mere 15,000 points, how on earth do you reach that number of a whopping 75,000 points?!

Are you in essence saying that you officially only receive 15,000 but after calling with them and mentioning that offer code they just casually hand over 60,000 points???!!!

Please, i’m just trying to understand this ‘system’..

Looks like 100k code 5999 for Business Plat is dead according to people who are calling in about it.

Do you mean to apply by phone or online by August 1 or do you mean to apply the Bonus code by August 1?

I applied online July 30th and had instant approval. My card arrives on Wednesday. Will I be okay to bump to 75k with promo code of 5985?

@John: How can you get the points again and again without a problem? I thought that Amex was strict about bonus points only for first time cardmembers. Are you saying that that’s not the case How long do you wait between canceling and reapplying for the same card?

You need to apply for the card by today-August 1st.
You can call anytime afterward with the code, as long as you apply for the card on or before August 1st.

Are you kidding me? AMEX is so easy with giving points for charge cards as many times as you want. Personally I’ve done the platinum and premier gold card a few times each in the past year and match them for better offers each time. You ddon’t have to wait at all but if you don’t wait 30 days you may need to have them clear out your old application in order to get approved again.

applied for Amex Premier Rewards Gold and Amex Platinum on July 30 and 31st, 2011. Asked for expedited delivery and cards delivered UPS next day air. Activated both, called in to apply 5748 and 5985. CS made notation of codes. 5894 doesn’t work for PRG.

First try, no luck to bump but 2nd try CS said he will when i finish my $1k spend for each card.

I just called in with code 5985 and they applied 75k miles to my Premier Rewards Gold Card! You guys are awesome! Thanks.

5894 worked for my prg. I was told I will get the 75k with that code. Why are people saying it doesn’t work? Should I be nervous that I won’t get it? Can anyone with knowledge in this please answer me?

hi everyone,
I just wanted to clarify this discrepancy that we are hearing regarding the spend requirement for the 75k premier rewards gold card. The 75k offer only requires 500 spend. The reason a lot of people are being told by amex that they need to spend 1000 is because the pry card comes with a standard offer of 15k if you spend 1000. The car I spoke to told me that they want you to meet the requirement of your initial offer before they award you the better offer. Im sure some cars might not be so strict about this but that is the reason some people are hearing 1000 and some are hearing 500. It seems to be ymmv with this issue so either spend 1000 or keep trying your luck with a new csr. The business gold card doesn’t have any offer on it so they will just give you the 100k as soon as you spend 2000. Hope this was helpful

they told me you had to have opened your card before 7/15, did you open before then?

5999 no longer works, you had to apply by July 12 to receive the 100K miles. However if you call the number John posted 1800 Axp earn, and ask them they will tell you there are about 3 other bonus codes to get the 100K, that will begin in a couple weeks. It really depends on who you speak too, one rep didn’t want to tell me if there will be any other Promotions in the future, and then I called right back and spoke to a different rep who just told me everything I wanted to hear. I hope this info will be helpful
