British Airways Avios can’t be beat for short-haul nonstop flights thanks to ultra-low award rates, no expedite/close-in fees, and dirt cheap award cancellations. Below are all of the direct flights from Boston that can be booked with Avios.
Be sure to read the British Airways knowledgebase and the 22 Things To Keep In Mind When Using Avios for everything you NEED to know about the BA program and how to best search for BA award availability with tips like always booking one-way awards. If you have a question it’s probably already been answered there!
Notes:
1. Rates in the chart are for one-way flights. Generally speaking it’s a good idea to book BA flights as one-ways to give you maximum flexibility.
2. Routes that are displayed in bold are subject to fuel surcharges.
3. There are no fuel surcharges for flights on: Aer Lingus, Air Berlin, Alaska, LAN, and TAM. There are also no fuel surcharges for American and USAirways flights within the western hemisphere, for JAL flights within Japan, and for Qantas flights within Australia. Fuel surcharges for intra-Europe flights are also typically quite low. Fuel surcharges for travel on Cathay Pacific aren’t too bad while fuel surcharges to fly on British Airways border on the criminal.
You can save on the fuel surcharges imposed on Iberia flights by transferring British Airways Avios into Iberia Avios.
4. In the charts below I’ve only included direct flights as BA charges Avios for each flight segment. For example Maui isn’t on the chart as BA does not have any partners that fly nonstop from Boston-Maui. Though you can always fly to Maui via Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego, or Seattle, for 12.5K for the Boston-west coast segment and 12.5K for the West coast-Maui segment with no fuel surcharges. Plus you can stopover in the connecting city for as long or short as you want.
5. BA.com does not display availability for all airlines! If you want to book travel on airlines like Alaska, Aer Lingus, and LAN you’ll need to pick up the phone and call BA! You can search Alaska award availability on AA.com before calling BA to book it.
6. In rare cases connecting flights can be cheaper than nonstop flights when using Avios and I’ve noted that in the chart.
7. Cities in the chart may only have seasonal nonstop service.
8. A dash means that class of service isn’t offered on that route.
9. If you are originating in NYC and don’t want to drive to BOS to pickup a flight you’ll probably be better off searching for and booking the NYC-BOS leg for 4.5K separately from the BOS-XYZ leg. First of all that will pull up more flight results. Second, that will stop you from being priced into the much more expensive multi-partner chart. For example a flight from NYC-Boston on American and from Boston-Ireland on Aer Lingus would price out a 35K Avios when booked as 1 ticket or 17K Avios when the Boston-NYC flight is booked separately (for 4.5K Avios) from the Boston-Ireland flight (for 12.5K Avios with no fuel surcharges).

So what happened to BOS-DUB for 17K as mentioned elsewhere?
Great post.
If i use avios to book a flight for myself, will i earn AA( or USAIR)miles when i fly?
And if so, which miles would you say are more valuable?
@yy:
It’s 12.5K, did you look at the chart?
@Username:
No.
how much is jfk-lax business/first with avios with aa?
or
jfk-tlv coach (fuel surcharge?)
when i try and book on aa.com jfk-tlv it has like $700 in charges?
out of topic, but i signed up for serve and you said you can load with cc and it wont be considered cash advance. does serve charge it as a transaction and not cash advance bec cit said i should inquire with serve??
1) If I got rejected 8 months ago, do you think there is a chance to get approved now?
2) How much income does one need to get approved for this card?
Any idea why it makes sense for US airways to fly to Syracuse, Harrisburg, Pittsburg and other places that are not a hub, and boston is not a hub either?
@Anonymous:
1. http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/32877
2. Depends on the airline, fly one without a fuel surcharge.
@Anonymous:
It’s a purchase not cash advance.
@Zach:
Officially you can get the bonus again if the last bonus you got was 24 months ago.
@Yehudah:
1. Of course. All depends on the Recon rep.
2. The higher your reported income the higher the odds. There is no bottom line number.
@Yisroel:
Why do airlines need to only fly to hubs?
They’ll fly any route if they can turn a profit.
Thank you Dan! Much appreciated
@Dan: that’s awesome!! thanks!
wow, it seams avios is a really good value!
Have you heard of Avios matching United’s offer and waiving the first year fee?
us airways card if i got the 40k and then want to cancel and not pay fee, will they take back miles?? they seem to be very strict cant get them to waive fee.
@Anonymous:
Indeed.
@avi:
Some people have success getting the fee waived, but usually they’ll only waive it if you cancel.
@Anonymous:
No card ever claws back the signup bonus for cancelling.
Can I transfer 50.000 united miles to ba avios or vice versa
Dan
Can you fly aer lingus to Paris connecting through Dublin for 17,500?
@Zach:
After 24 months there’s no need for anything like that, it says specifically you can get the bonus again if you don’t currently have the card and if the last time you got the bonus was 24 months ago.
@Dovid:
No.
@Kelly:
BOS-DUB-CDG is just 17K Avios!
Bookable over the phone only.
Hi Dan, just want to let you know I took your advice and didn’t pre-book my infant between jfk and yyz. at the airport both times it was very difficult to get the infant ticket issued. they kept getting an error that “exit row seat can not have infant” even though I was not seated in an exit row. they had to call tech support to book the ticket. it worked in the end but took 20 to 30 minutes. I think I would rather of paid the 450 ba miles. hopefully no one else has same problem b/c it was stressful with all the kids!
@Chaim:
Next time just call AA to add the infant for free.
Dan,
Tried to book for 4 from BOS TO SNN for next July in economy but no availabilty. Seemed good for June though, is it possible that Aer Lingus didn’t release yet?
Also, for intra Europe flights I was hoping to use avios. I currently have a 0 balance pending transferring miles from UR. BA rep says I have to fly in order to get access to reward saver redemptions, I was hoping the miles transfer from UR would open them up for me. Is this true? If so, could I get access any other way ie.using shopping portal? Thx!
Hey Dan. Check out your site minimum 10 times daily. Huge fan. Thanks so much!!
Do you know if BOS-DUB-TLV is possible? If it is, how many avios would it be?
Todah!
to book the Cancun or Montego flight from Boston on USAirways, do you have to call? I am getting an error on the BA website when searching for those, even tho domestic USAirways are searchable.
