Update: The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways in Washington/IAD near gate A14 is now open daily from 6am-10pm. This co-branded lounge has the same access rules as the JFK lounge described below.
Chase lounges in Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and San Diego, and more are coming soon.
Bank branded lounges have become a required perk for high-end credit cards. AMEX started their own lounge network when American, Continental, and USAirways stopped allowing Platinum cardholders to access their lounges. Other banks are now trying to catch up with them.
Chase opened their 3rd full service domestic club today, with the opening of the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways in JFK.
That comes after the opening of a Sapphire Lounge in Boston, LaGuardia, Hong Kong, and a Sapphire Terrace in Austin.
The Sapphire Lounge JFK opens is a joint offering with Etihad Airways, which previously operated the lounge before COVID, but will now reopen and offer the signature Chase Sapphire experience.
This is the first Sapphire lounge that was not custom built by Chase. That will be located in JFK Terminal 4 post-security in the mezanine on Level 4, above Gate A2. As in LaGuardia, that’s near the AMEX Centurion lounge. Terminal 4 airlines include Delta, El Al, Aeromexico, Air Europa, Air India, Avianca, China Airlines, Copa, Emirates, Etihad, Hawaiian, KLM, LATAM, Singapore, Virgin Atlantic, Westjet, and more.
This lounge will be much smaller than the 21,800 square-foot offering in LaGurdia, clocking in at just 7,600 square-foot space is a joint offering with Etihad Airways.
It offers craft cocktails, local coffee from Joe Coffee, private bathrooms with showers, reflection rooms, and artworks curated by the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection.
Last week I went to New York to celebrate Chesky Goldstein’s wedding, who was one of the passengers on our 2018 kosher cruise to Antarctica.
I had the chance to stop in the Sapphire Lounge at LaGuardia’s Terminal B the day after it opened, and it’s very impressive.
To get there, just follow the signs after security to gates 40-59.
The AMEX and Chase lounges are right next to each other, all that’s missing are agents in front soliciting business for their bank. 😉
You’ll take an elevator to reach the lounge.
The lounge doesn’t have any windows, but the truth is that you don’t notice is as the space is well designed to compensate for that.
Nice little touches include a nursing room, a changing room, spacious bathrooms, and more.
Male and female providers are on hand to provide complimentary facials that will transport you far away from LaGuardia airport.
The kids/family room is a nice touch missing from many airline lounges these days:
Next to the kids room is an awesome arcade room, equipped with a jukebox, pinball, shuffleboard, and photobooth for complimentary use.
You can grab a drink or refill your water bottle from the self-service counter:
Or grab a latte, beer or cocktail from the bar:
I had a refreshing Other Half Brewing Forever Ever IPA:
There’s not much in the way of kosher food, though the bartender has a kosher basket they can bring to you upon request. I told them it would be awesome if they could arrange hot kosher meals, and they said they always listen to customer feedback, so let the lounge managers know your feedback when you visit!
There’s kosher parve oat milk available for your hand-crafted espresso drinks:
Dining room:
Living room:
If there’s not enough seating downstairs, you can always go upstairs via the staircase or elevator in the lounge:
And if you want a real private lounge experience, you can drop $2,200 for a 4 person Reserve suite or $3,000 for one of the 8 person Reserve Suites, which include a personal bathroom and shower, suite attendant, and much more. You can book a suite at least 72 hours in advance and up to a year in advance on the Chase app in benefits and travel.
You can request hot kosher meals if you book a Reserve Suite.
This is what the 4 person suite looks like:
Overall, I thought the lounge space was great! So much so that I cut things a bit too close to catch our flight home and the AA gate agent actually called my cell phone to see if we were going to make it before they closed the doors! 😀
It’s hard to believe this is LaGurdia airport!
Don’t forget to get the freebies that I wrote about as well, while supplies last:

Is it possible to access the lounge when departing from a different terminal?
In the USA one is able to go through TSA in another terminal of the same airport if you have a boarding pass for that day
Usually this is not worth it unless you have a few hour layover.
I have done this numerous times.
Hot kosher food will be the cherry on top for this one!
Dan,
Thanks for the info. To be clear about the PP access, if you have 4-5 different ones from different cards can you access once per card for the year?
Or do they have a way to track it that only once a year stam PP can be used
Yes, once per year per PP card. You can get a PP card for each eligible credit card that you have.
On that topic, if I have a Venture X and Amex Platinum, is there any benefit in getting PP from those cards if I already have one from a Reserve (for the non-lounge benefits)?
And what do you lose from getting them other than a few minutes?
wow, looking forward to fly from LGA.
thanks for sharing as you always do!
do you need to have the card with you or can they look up account
Thanks for posting the pictures of the Chase LGA lounge . It certainly looks competitive to the Amex Centurion LGA .
Amex Centurion lounge in LGA is my favorite Amex lounge I have been to (List of Amex lounges I’ve been to : JFK , LGA , DFW , DEN , SEA , LHR , CLT , MIA )
Truthfully without something to eat
the lounge is a big disappointment. We travel out of Logan. I asked about kosher food and got “what’s kosher?”
Can say the same about all traveling while keeping kosher. First class without edible food or visiting foreign countries without kosher food is just part of the bargain.
But that being said, I’d certainly encourage people to ask about the possibility of them carrying kosher meals, especially in NYC where that won’t pose a logistical challenge.
I was in the LGA Sapphire Lounge and asked about Kosher. While they don’t have Kosher food, within 5 minutes an attendant brought us a whole basket of kosher snacks – similar to what dan showed above.
The Virgin lounge at JFK offers hot kosher meals, also by voucher which Elal Business class travelers receive. Other lounges can easily tap in to that setup and get similar supplied kosher meals if they wanted, without many challenges.
You have free access to the Virign lounge thru a CC or you need to fly upper class?
Wow what a coincidence I was just in LGA lounge few hours ago
Noticed it by accident on way to gate and stopped in for a few
They were very friendly and wish I had gone earlier I almost missed boarding my flight
I activated access on my chase reserve card but I haven’t received a card for the lounge access. Can I have access without the card?
Yes, people have reported that working without having the PP card.
YMMV.
…and the AA gate agent actually called my cell phone to see if we were going to make it before they closed the doors!
Um… they never did that for me. What class were you flying?
First, after a free upgrade from coach.
Probably has more to do with EXP status though.
how do I get to PP card with Chase sapphire reserve?
Request it online or call Chase.
I read JFK has Kosher food options upon request. Is this accurate?
Yes, I’d guess similar to LGA.
Let us know if you go.
The lounge access is only for international travel or domestic as well?
Both.
Dan, how can I get my 4-year-old into the lounge with me if I have PP from capital one? Can I get my son his own PP?
Try adding him as an additional user on your card?
he is already, problem is wont let me sign him up for his own PP because he is under 18. Any ideas? put in wrong birthday?
Do AMEX Centurion lounges have the same rule as the Sapphire lounges, that no entry when arriving, only by departure?
Yes.
🙁 Any option in LGA upon Arrival with DL?
I’m arriving at night with another 8 Pax and they will be waiting in LGA while I go to JFK to pick up my car.
Find a super-cheap ticket somewhere?
My dayan told me I’m not allowed to stay in a lounge if the Lounges’s rules are only if I have a ticket and I don’t actually plan on flying (A refundable ticket etc.)
What about actually buying the ticket but not using it? (Not getting it refunded, just check in and then don’t get on the plane.)
Maybe try buying a super-cheap ticket out of LGA?
What about the amenity kit
Did you get one ?
Added to the post, thanks
IY”H I’ll be flying from JFK to TLV on American Airlines in April 2024 (my flight currently appears in the AAdvantage app, but who knows what’ll happen by then).
I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve Priority Pass card, and PP rights from 2 or 3 other high-level cards. Would my spouse and I be able to use the new Chase Sapphire – Etihad Airways lounge at JFK for free, without flying on Etihad (as our flight’ll be on American Airlines)?
TY
It doesn’t matter what airline you’re flying.
That being said, there’s almost no chance AA will fly to Israel in April unless something major changes very soon.
AA is from terminal 8. It does not connect to terminal 4
At least in the USA your able to go through TSA in another terminal in the same airport if you have a boarding pass.
Usually this is not worth it unless you have A few hour layover
I have done this numerous times.
I’m not sure this is true everywhere. My daughter was flying EWR to Tel Aviv. And I was flying JetBlue to Florida. And even with my boarding pass, they didn’t let me go through her security TSA checkpoint.
That TSA agent just woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning and had a bad day.
I have never been refused access to another terminal.
I haven’t tried in EWR but have done it in JFK, LAX, SFO
Maybe domestic vs. international? El Al?
How long would it take to get from here terminal 8 to this lounge?
Flying AA next week!
Hi I spoke the supervisor at jfk sapphire lounge about kosher food he is interested to speak to you he gave me his cell phone number. How can I contact you
?
Dan@dansdeals.com
LGA HAS SOME KOSHER SNACKS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. SOME ARE OU AND SOME OD-D
It’s on The menu. The gluten free parve cookie is surprisingly great.
Was just in the HK Sapphire Lounge – pretty underwhelming.
They did not let me in with just the Reserve card – had to show the PP card.
I think I was using the PP card from VentureX and went in with a guest – 2 times (Different days) is that possible? Will I just get charged to my Venture Card if it is with a guest and more than once?
Thanks!
I was at LGA around a year or so ago, I was so surprised how nice the new terminal is, it’s really beautiful, like Dan said it’s hard to believe you’re in LaGuardia
I was at the JFK sapphire lounge last night. There is a big sign in the front saying that it currently is only for Etihad customers. They were also full to capacity with a waitlisr of 45-60 minutes just to get in.
Same, but on a different day. I believe that if there is an Etihad flight then it’s unlikely that PP will get access.
The Diners Club card lists this Sapphire Lounge as accessible with its card, but I was denied entry with the agent saying it’s not one of the approved cards. Not sure who was making the error.
