About Silvercar:
Silvercar is a new-age car rental company. Since I first wrote about Silvercar I’ve received lots of rave reviews from readers thanking me for introducing them to Silvercar. Share your experience in the comments!
The only car they rent is the all-wheel drive Audi A4. It comes with built-in GPS, satellite radio, bluetooth, leather seats, and even a free WiFi hotspot. Unlimited miles are included in every rental.
You can rent from Silvercar as long as you are at least 22 years old with no underage fees.
I rented a car from Avis in Miami earlier this year and got hit with a $17.20 bill for a two 70 cent tolls that I apparently passed on SR112. That’s $1.40 for the tolls and $15.80 for an “eToll Convenience Fee.” Convenient for whom is the question?
Silvercar only passes on the toll itself, no convenience fees.
If you don’t refill the fuel you’ll only be charged a $5 flat rate fee on top of the actual local price of the gas needed to fill up the car. No need to jeopardize missing your flight just to avoid paying $10/gallon for fuel.
At airports where Silvercar is offsite you’ll get picked up and dropped off at the airport in an Audi as well.
Both AMEX and Chase cover the CDW insurance for a Audi A4, but it’s always a good idea to confirm and get things in writing before renting.

When I make a reservation, should I select “Personal coverage”? Does Silvercar need to know that I will be using CDW from my credit card? If yes, how do I tell them?
Just to clarify, the first time offers and repeat offers are only different in that the first time offers include the $25 back after rental?
Thanks.
@Dovid:
Yes, personal coverage.
They don’t need to know. If you get into an accident you’ll file a claim with your credit card.
Correct, same offers, just the $25 cash back if the difference.
It’s a shame they raised the LAX rate to $89 a day 🙁
@Mark:
Guess bookings for LAX must be up for the summer. Still, not a bad deal for a 2 day rental thanks to the BOGO code.
Drops to $59 again in September.
Can rent for more then 2 days? I’m going to miami for a week in august and I’m looking for a car
@Shmuel:
Of course.
@Dan if I were to make 3 two day rentals in la with three separate emails would I be able to get the free day on each and keep the same car
Anything for the month of September?
Any way to rent at 21?
Why would I want to rent this Audi a German Car?
Why would I want to rent thi scar just to show off. A Ford Fusion or Chevy Impala is just fine on a travel trip for just half the price at most other rental agencies.
Loved silvercar. It was a great experience from beginning to
End in Miami. I put
In all the codes. I got the 50$ off. I don’t have a
PayPal account. How does that work? I want you to get your 25 and I
Want mine:) thanks…..
@Dan Does booking with a corporate AMEX cover the CDW insurance? (for a personal trip, paying the tab myself) How could one get this in writing?
Thanks!
From AMEX disclosure:
Cars with an original manufacturer’s suggested new retail price of US $50,000 or more are not covered. For Platinum Card® and Delta Reserve Card Members, cars with an original manufacturer’s suggested new retail price of US $75,000 or more are not covered.
Also, the plan does not cover damage to other vehicles or injury to another person (just FYI)
