@momo613: those are considered large SUV’s. i got this deal last summer and i got a Ford explorer. others’s in that category: ford edge & chevy equinox. intermediate SUV is a ford focus, honda crv or toyota rav4.

I just rented a Standard SUV for Sep. Mine is a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Not the Tahoe. That’s a big price jump.

@shloimy: i doubt it. they won’t let you get a different car. last summer they didn’t even let me “downgrade” to a mid-size car (save on gas and i was alone), which in theory is cheaper, but for this promo you must stay in that category. the reason is b/c this is the least popular category rented and everything else, even a compact car, is more expensive. so they lower the prices to sell out.

@Laura: i’d go with enterprise or dollar, with a corporate acct, and rent at a city location.

does it work in Newark?

Whats considers a weekend rental by Avis, is there a minimum of days, or does it have to start after a specific time?

Does any one had any luck with a reservation with these rates? Was checking with an avis agent & he wasn’t able when he tried @ diff. Locations even outside Ny metropolitan area, he said its shuld be working but couldn’t figure it out why it didn’t worked when we tried.. Just wondering if it worked 4 any1?

Can you book for 5 days then return it a day early? I only need it for 4 days…..

Thanks! Rebooked our rental for Fort Myers in a month. Now in an SUV instead of the intermediate we had booked and for $10 less for the week.

@dan, there is a big demand for renting in the summer for two months, please if you have any cheap place please post, and a lot requests are for drivers at the age of 21 or so, we gota help them, they have a very hard time renting cars.
