Update: The Polaris Lounge in Newark has reopened today! United has also recently reopened their club in Newark’s Terminal A and they continue working to build their largest United Club ever in Newark’s Terminal C.
Polaris lounges in Chicago and Houston should reopen next month.
Now, hopefully United will soon restore kosher meals to flights and bring kosher meals to Polaris lounges! Your feedback to United is making a difference!

United’s Polaris lounges offer international business class passengers premium drinks, food, shower rooms, nap rooms, and more. They’re a real step up from the other lounges operated by US airlines.
They’re located in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, and San Francisco. Future Polaris lounges are expected in Washington DC, Hong Kong, London, and Tokyo.
The lounges have been closed since 3/18/20 due to the pandemic.
I loved the Polaris Lounge in Chicago that we stopped in after a flight from Rome and enjoyed the Houston Polaris lounge that I stopped in after flying home from Antarctica, though I seem to seem to keep near missing the lounge in Newark due to flight delays and then the lounge closures. The Newark lounge had kosher wine and was slated to get fresh kosher meals before the pandemic shut things down.
United tells me that this is the reopening schedule.
- The brand new Polaris Lounge in Washington/IAD will have its grand opening later this month.
- I was invited to cover a pre-opening media event there, but I’ll be flying United abroad at that time to complete a very special bucket list item.
- Polaris lounges in Chicago, Houston, and Newark will open by the end of this year.
- Despite several Polaris flights from Newark this year, I still won’t be able to visit this lounge as it won’t be open for my upcoming trip…
- Polaris lounges in Los Angeles and San Francisco will open in early 2022.

Book a United saver business mileage award 🙂
And then cancel??
No, fly somewhere!
The lounge is accessable for arriving flight also?
If you have a connecting flight.
Mazal tov finally
Not yet still gotta wait some time
If I get upgraded to business class with plus points on an international flight do I get access?
Sure, as long as you have a business class boarding pass.
Wow lots of teasers in this post. Am I smelling some Tagine?
United Club members cannot access Polaris?
No
is it accessible to United Business Club credit card members ?
“…but I’ll be flying United abroad at that time to complete a very special bucket list item.”
Hints?
Been doing planning on DDF 🙂
I think flying to Canada and Mexico in biz class does not give access to Polaris lounges. Bumper.
When will United start giving kosher meals again on their flights?

when is the newark one reopening ?
Read the post?
All the post says is “later this year”. You seem pretty confident that it won’t open before you fly. Any indication what later this year means? (I have a flight in early December.)
My reading is that it’ll be in November or December, so you may get lucky.
Finally! Hopefully someone can ask in the lounge if and when the long waited Kosher food option will be available and report back.
I have been to Polaris lounge in SFO.(fabulous espresso) The lounges are only open for international travelers (out bound flights, if you have a domestic connection you can get in) If you are going business class (Polaris) from EWR to SFO or LAX you cannot gain access to the Polaris lounge at EWR. United took the space from the regular United Club to build the Polaris lounge at EWR. The current United Clubs are inconveniently located.
The United site has not been updated as it still shows the Polaris club in Newark as closed.
Just don’t understand why they cannot extend their club hours past 9:45pm at EWR when they have plenty of late night departures. They will not even let you in after 9:30pm which is frustrating. And yes, I have provided feedback to United about this.
It’s also for premium plus tickets?
El al newark departures
Any clue priority pass available after 5 pm in ly coach departure area ?
not yet any kosher items in Newark
