JetBlue is offering a discount when you redeem points for select travel.

While JetBlue notes that this isn’t valid for existing bookings, you can always just refund your existing non-basic award booking for free, though while other airlines refund your taxes, JetBlue refunds the taxes back to your TravelBank. Basic awards have a $100 per passenger cancellation fee for North America, Central America, Caribbean flights and a $200 per passenger cancellation fee for all other flights.
For example, a flight from JFK to Fort Lauderdale on 3/26 is $58.30 in basic economy or 2.7K points+$5.60, a value of 1.95 cents per point. A regular economy ticket is $88.30 or 4.6K points+$5.60, or a value of 1.8 cents per point.
That compares to a flight after the promo is over on 6/18 from JFK to Fort Lauderdale which is $99.30 in basic economy or 6.6K points+$5.60, a value of 1.42 cents per point. A regular economy ticket is $129.30 or 8.7K points+$5.60, or a value of 1.42 cents per point.
And, if you have a JetBlue Plus consumer or business card you’ll also get a 10% rebate when redeeming JetBlue points.
You can transfer Chase or Citi points to JetBlue instantly at a 1:1 ratio. AMEX points transfer instantly to JetBlue at a 1:0.8 ratio. Capital One points transfer instantly to JetBlue at a 1:0.6 ratio.

I’m looking at tickets with higher taxes. So apparently even with the discount, I’m still better off booking the flights directly thru Chase’s Travel portal, redeeming my UR points at 1.5 cents.
