Frontier pioneered the ultra-low-cost carrier model in the US that led to fees on just about everything.
Last week, Southwest sold their soul, changing the airline from a friendly one, to another fee hungry airline, except one that has nothing to compete with the major airlines and a cost structure too high to compete with ultra low cost carriers.
And now Frontier is offering a “This Is True Love” sale. That’s rich coming from Frontier, but it’s a generous offering.
For flights booked by 3/24 at 11:59pm ET for nonstop travel through 8/18, you can take advantage of the Economy Bundle for free with perks including:
- FREE carry-on bag
- FREE seat selection
- FREE flight changes
Additionally, for flights booked by 3/24 at 11:59pm ET and departing 5/28-8/18, you can also get a free 40 pound checked bag with code: FREEBAG
Of course, none of that is as generous as what Southwest is still offering if you buy your flight by 5/27. Southwest currently gives non-expiring credit for cancelations and 2 free 50 pound bags. Plus even after then, they will still give a free carry-on bag.
Southwest also offers far more generous legroom than Frontier, has in-flight WiFi available, and has padding on their seats.
Frontier says that if enough people take advantage of this promo by 3/24, they “might just make it permanent.” That seems unlikely to me, but who knows?
Will you book Frontier with this promo?

By default, I avoid Frontier. But in some specific instances, I do use them, and I must say that if you plan and you know what you are up against with the bag fees, etc., it can be a pleasant experience. Spirit on the other hand I personally try to avoid unless there are absolutely no other options.
In what way do you find Spirit worse than Frontier?
That’s interesting cuz spirit has a way lower delay/cancellation as compared to frontier and has the option to buy WiFi. I personally always fly frontier for the free bags you get with their credit card but I wish spirit had that offer.
Frontier better than Spirit? I’ve yet to hear someone second that based on their flying experience…
How does frontier define free changes…
The bags are free for travel purchased on SW by 5/27even for travel taking place after 5/27? I didn’t realize that…
I recently flew frontier for a quick 2 hour flight in and out.
And found the experience to be decent.
