Update: El Al has cancelled flights to Johannesburg and Toronto as described below. El Al now plans to fly either 0 or 1 flight per day in April to/from Tel Aviv-JFK, Newark, London, and Paris.
El Al previously announced that they would lay off 80% of their workforce and only fly to JFK, Newark, Toronto, London, Paris and Johannesburg through March 28.
Unfortunately based on flights available for sale, it appears that El Al has extended cancellations through April 4 or May 2, depending on the route. I’d guess that these cancellations will be extended further yet.
Looking at flights currently for sale, here is how things look on select El Al routes:
- Flights between JFK and Tel Aviv are cancelled through April 4
- Flights between Newark and Tel Aviv are cancelled through April 4
- Flights between Paris and Tel Aviv are cancelled through April 4
- Flights between London/LHR and Tel Aviv are cancelled through April 11
- Flights between Johannesburg and Tel Aviv are cancelled through May 2.
- Flights between Toronto and Tel Aviv are cancelled From April 1 through May 2.
- Flights between Boston and Tel Aviv are cancelled through May 30.
- Flights between Las Vegas and Tel Aviv are cancelled through June 4.
- Flights between Los Angeles and Tel Aviv are cancelled through May 2.
- Flights between Miami and Tel Aviv are cancelled through May 30.
- Flights between San Francisco and Tel Aviv are cancelled through May 30.
- Flights between Amsterdam and Tel Aviv are cancelled through May 30.
- Flights between Athens and Tel Aviv are cancelled through May 2.
- Flights between Barcelona and Tel Aviv are cancelled through May 2.
- Flights between Brussels and Tel Aviv are cancelled through May 30.
- Flights between Frankfurt and Tel Aviv are cancelled through May 30.

I have a flight from LHR-TLV this Thursday. The return ticket TLV-LHR is for next Wednesday. I surely won’t fly. I booked partially with ultimate rewards and the remainder with credit card. How can I get refunded?
If the flight is not cancelled you can get a travel credit. But wait until the day of the flight to request that in case it does get cancelled.
A. If my daughter’s Elal flight to Israel gets cancelled she can get a full refund?
B. She booked through Kayak. She has to call Kayak?
Thanks Dan. I’m considering changing my ticket to a later date, since my flight is still on for Wednesday, and it’s the only one still on for LHR to TLV so I’m guessing it won’t get cancelled. If the later one gets cancelled, will they honor a refund or I won’t be able to dispute it since it wasn’t my original booking?

I have a flight from Miami in April that was canceled, but just got an email today that they put me on another flight 24 hours earlier. Can they get away with a 24 hour change and not refund my ticket?
Elal just changed my flight for 5 hour 50 minutes later and they agreed to refund the whole amount back to my credit card.

I needed a one way ticket from TLV to US. The price for a 1 way ticket was around $1k more then a roundtrip, so I booked RT without any intention of using the return. Now they cancelled the return flight. Can I go back to them and ask for a refund on the return, which I never planned on using?

My friend from Hilton Tel Aviv just advised that they are closing the hotel and giving all the employees ‘vacation’. I don’t know for how long. How come there are still flights from April 4 to Tel Aviv? I presume they will be cancelled. Here I am hoping my hotel in Zurich, where I stay for long periods of time, won’t close as now, being a vagabond, with no home, and a senior, it is a bit stressful to say the least.

Hi,
I have flight on Mon, March 23 from JFK-TLV and returning Sunday March 29. I booked through Priceline so I get zero assistance when I reached out to Elal. Priceline (after 16 hours with call back) tried to cancel flight and get me credit on Elal but that was taking too long to get through to Elal so Priceline dropped it. Now Priceline is saying that I can only talk to them when flight is within 72 hours because of the amount of calls they are getting.
Anyone have any helpful advice on this?

You can reach out to elal. elal will say they cant help you and you have to go through with whoever you booked with, but ask them for a waiver code or that they should note it to priceline..

Is it likely to get cancelled and will I get my money back?
El Al said they changed their policy such that they will not refund rather will issue a travel credit to be used within one year, which is ABSURD.
It is but otherwise they will surely collapse.
I just called ELAL .They cancelled my flights but said it could take up to a year to get refunded to my cc because the billing department is overloaded. Should I just dispute the charges with my cc to get my money back faster or will that mess me up?
