Air Canada announced today that they will be extending elite status yet again.
That means that people that earned status in 2019 or 2020 will have their status valid through the end of 2022.
Additionally:
- Priority Rewards vouchers issued in 2020 will be valid through October 31, 2022.
- Air Canada will also roll over all 2021 elite flight activity to 2022 to qualify for status through the end of 2023 if you exceed the elite requirements for your level in 2021.
- Aeroplan awards booked through April 30, 2021 can be cancelled or changed for free.
- Aeroplan points won’t expire until January 31, 2022.
With Canadian vaccination efforts far behind most of the western world and with the country holding onto onerous travel restrictions, I don’t think US airlines will feel pressure to match this status extension. But it’s still nice that Air Canada is offering it.
Now if only Air Canada would pony up refunds on flights that they cancelled…is anyone home at the Canada Transportation Agency?

Thanks for posting.
As an AC status holder, I’ve been following this closely.
AC will NOT be rolling over all 2021 flight activity to 2022 for 2023 status, rather they will only roll over sediments and miles IF you reach some status in 2021 (lowest being 25K).
If you earn anything below that it will not be rolled over.
Staying away from AC as an airline with a bad reputation refunding money to the customers during covid
