Cleveland hasn’t had service to Europe since Continental ended nonstop flights to London and Paris some 8 years ago.
But within 24 hours, IcelandAir and WOW have announced that they will each start 4 weekly nonstop flights from Cleveland to Reykjavik, Iceland next May. IcelandAir is partners with Alaska Airlines for redeeming and earning miles.
Iceland is known for it’s otherworldly scenery and northern lights, but it’s also quickly becoming a major hub for low-cost service between North America and Europe.
WOW is also adding nonstop service from Cincinnati, Detroit, and S. Louis to Iceland starting spring 2018. S. Louis hasn’t had service to Europe since American closed the old TWA hub there.
WOW currently serves 10 North American cities: Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, Newark, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Toronto.
WOW is known for their $99 one-way flights to Europe and $149 one-way flights to Israel, though adding baggage and assigned seating adds another $100 each way.
But I’m definitely excited for the competition that is heating up at my home airport and looking forward to taking a nonstop flight to Iceland, especially after reading Something Fishy’s trip report to Iceland!

WOW now flying out of CVG. Go Cincy!
Looks like they don’t sell tickets to TLV from any of the new locations.
Give em time, they will.
This sure doesn’t seem like the best business strategy in the world to me: but low fare transatlantic airline expansion is definitely “a thing” right now. I’d fly sooner than later. It will be amazing if this service continues.
“and looking forward to taking a nonstop flight to Iceland”
While I personally had no problems flying WOW…. somehow I don’t picture you going that route, whether or not it’s non-stop
Well then it’s a good thing that IcelandAir will also fly nonstop from CLE 🙂
Does IcelandAir have viable points options now?
Nope. Still no decent points option to Iceland.
Awesome! Way to go St. Louis!
More than a little jealous. Waiting for non-stop service to my city.
What’s the green stuff in the sky? Is it photoshopped?
dementors and the auras produced by the wizards fighting them

I think that british airways flys into cleveland. I saw them on the tarmac.
They do not.
Its probably because all the Reykjavik people wanna come to Cleveland for the 2024 eclipse. Speaking of which, how was your eclipse, wherever you were?
One of the most amazing experiences of my life.

Nice! Should be even more amazing when you can post the pictures from Beachwood!
I can’t wait, just pray that the clouds stay away!
Supposed to be 3:45 of totality in Beachwood, over a minute longer than I had in Boonville!
Yeh, it’ll be the Northern Lights-Out!
